JVC HX GD7 hi fi system (stuck on standby)
Plug in, and red standby comes on:cry

I take it you have tried the ubiquitous unplug, leave for a few minutes then plug in again. This seems to work for a lot of electronic gizmos when they chuck a wobbly.

Probably a power supply problem and not economically repairable.

With respect, EthanMaxx, have you got any electronics repair experience? If I said it was possibly a faulty capacitor, do you have the knowledge and skills to be able to find it, then do a diagnosis with a heat gun, and if you find it then do the replacement?

Well couldn't fix it but i was lucky enough to find another, now have a few other hi fi, as back up might have got a bit carried tho.
3 JVC MX-GT91R 180w 1 JVC HX-GD7 520w 1 JVC MX-GB5 450w Sony mhc ec691 100w Sharp CD-SW300 450w And yes i do get to play them all! |

As is normal for this class of sound system the manufacturers invent some spurious method of specifying the power output that has no resemblance to reality in the belief that gullible punters like big numbers. So if your kit has a bigger number than the other guy's you'll sell more of yours.

I used to have one of those huge JVC stereos. An MX-GB6. I think my friend summed it up best when he first saw it by saying, "It looks like the sort of stereo that Ali G would buy".

My "JVC HX-GD7" 520w is on youtube c 4 yourself and is amazing iv never heard louder or better base ever. if you can beat that for £45 then fair play
