Err, they're not selling any records. My guess is their contract would not have been renewed.Their last single reached the dizzy heights of 112.
This^^^. Dropped.
They've done well. They could have just gone away for a few years, instead of announcing a split though.

They werent dropped. The five year contract they had after XF is coming to an end. Its either the record comany doesnt want them anymore which would be silly considering their sold out tours and only only one uncuccessful (commercially) album - look at Alexandra's sophomore album - it was way less successful and still she's in the game or they just wanted a break like Take That. .
I just hope that some of them (Aston) will launch solo careers and some of them (JB) come out
That is the same as being dropped. Contract hasn't been renewed.

Thanks for that! I was starting to bang my head against the wall trying to explain that to earlier posters. It was obviously Marvin's mum on earlier trying to tell us they weren't let go.

Not at all surprised about the news really....Aston is doing his own thing judging on a dance talent show (on cable TV)and Marvin is to be a dad soon!! lasted slighty longer than G4 mind......and vocally they were better!!!!

Will miss 'Merry Christmas' though!!

I think that it's likely that the contract might not have been renewed because of the label (they have been on a downward spiral for a while from what I gather, and the boyband market is getting new fresher additions, so that won't help) -which would mean that they have been "dropped" if we want to use that expression.
But the truth is we don't know.

They have had a great run to last 4 albums if I read right, it's quite an achievement, and I don't think anybody was not recognizing that...

They maybe could have been signed by another label (whether they were dropped or it was totally their choice to not renew the contract), but I think that they made the right decision...

I think that everyone more or less agrees with oneanother on this thread, it's probably more a question of angle and tone.

And of course this will happen to 1D, LM, UJ, Olly at some point. It's not as if it's a new phenomenom that pop acts fade away and aren't signed back or are let go. It's always sad for the fans, but so very few singers manage to stay relevant for more than a few years -not to mention how much truer it is for boy & girlbands.

The sun article says that they are working on some new tracks for a greatest hits album due this year.
This doesn't make sense to me. Surely a 'Greatest Hits' album is an album of hits they've already had, not new tracks that haven't yet been released!

Yes, but they usually throw in one or two new songs to get the fans excited.

Most greatest hits usually have a few extra songs on there to enhance the package for fans as everyone has the hits on previous albums.

Well I'm sure if it was actually that bad I would be either a) banned or b) get a PM or e-mail from the moderators of the forum - as is standard practice when comments or things are not within the T&C

Personally I'd imagine it was more to do with the fact it was off topic seeing as this is a JLS splitting thread and not the 1D Appreciation or disappreciation thread and had the potential to escalate

I am glad I got to see them before they got removed. It always shows people's true colours when they have to resort to name calling to try and win an argument.

I don't think anyone was trying to win an argument, I know I wasn't as I hadn't even started one - more stating their opinions in general

Question - Why are you so bitter?
Also, the discussion was about JLS splitting up, but then a certain poster decided to go personal, and you joined in to defend them. No one else mentioned 1D, except the two of you.

Also the first poster in this thread to mention 1D was Dreamaster, which abrightyz then replied to and was carried on by MTUK1 on Page 2...
