Wow, people were writing him off a little while ago. Good news. Hopefully he will get some exposure on X Factor USA later in the year.

Doesn't sound very good to me. If it peaks at that its poor. Dancing with the Stars described him as an "international superstar" who'd sold 5 million albums worldwide, lol! He must have written that script himself.
It's down to #37 on iTunes now when capital fm were saying a few days ago he'd cracked the top ten on iTunes. He's been on TV a few times already promoting in decent slots and it doesn't seem to have helped his album at all. |

To those not familiar with US charts, these are horrible numbers that are dropped-from-label worthy.
Good thing he has his international sales. |

Not that it seemed huge in my eyes, but considering the #18, I thought maybe it wasn't that bad in the current market... |

Not really great sales, but not a disaster either, it's sort of MOR, rather like how Rebecca did out in the US.
However, considering this is his 2nd single there (after the 1st failed to make any impact), and given the notable amount of promotion he has done out there for quite some time, the album really should have done better than this, but even so, a top 20 album in the US is not exactly easy to get, so well done to Olly. I'm not sure whether he has a sustainable future in the US but it's a decent level taking everything into account. I think he's more suited to Europe though. |

I guess his label didnt give him enough promo.
If we compare is his promotion with Cher Lloyd's, his label failed HARD. She performed on America's Got Talent to promote Want U Back and Today Show to promote Want U Back & the iTunes pre-order of her album. On the album release week she had TV performances everyday: Today Show, Live With Kelly & Michael, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Dancing With The Stars and The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno. Well, another thing.. Troublemaker is now bigger than WUB was on the radio, I just dont know why people arent buying the single.. at this time, WUB was already top 5 on iTunes. |

Any chart runs orfigures for his album sales in Europe outside the UK? He can't have sold 5 million worldwide when he's just about done half that in the UK.

That's not what was said at the start of his performance on Dancing with the Stars. They definitely said 5 million albums. Masking the figures to back up their introduction calling him an international superstar.
It's pretty common for the promotional spiel to manipulate the figures for a lot of artists. Like the other poster said, SINGLES and albums could add up to this amount, but I would think even that total has been inflated . |

http://www.itunescharts.net/uk/artists/music/olly-murs/ Some of the singles were sold as EP = counted as albums... We can also see the list of countries where he charted, and there are more than I though (OK, he didn't chart very high, but still). Add to that the physical albums sales... Maybe that explains that. But I agree that it looks suspicious

To be fair he still did a lot better than the american contenstants seem to be doing. At least they can add him to their montage of success stories when the third series of XFUS starts!

Look at this website about I-tunes sales:

Thanks for the links with those positions he will be looking to have sold a couple of hundred k albums never mind over 2.5million.
His promo will have been very costly so hopefully he's actually made some money However, I found that link in the LM thread tbh ![]() It's true that his promo in the US was big (compared to Rebecca Fergusong for example, maybe not compared to other acts like Cher LLoyd or 1D), so it might have been a bit costly. |

For all the money spent on his promo the album tanked this week:
19 57 MURS*OLLY RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME 6,978 -64 19,205 26,215 19 down to 57 is a huge drop. His promo seems to have gone badly wrong. I know Troublemaker has sold loads despite not even getting top 20 but that could just make him a one hit wonder. |
