I personally absolutely adore series 7.
Asylum - Genuinely my favourite episode of Doctor Who ever. The shock of seeing Oswin, her give and go with the Doctor, her ultimate and stunning demise, that whole storyline thrilled me. Plus, Amy and Rory were awesome as ever and the daleks are in it! And who doesn't love a good dalek?
Eggs....ter...min...ate. Chilling. 10.
Dinosaurs - I really loved this episode. It may not have been the best episode ever but I loved the feel of it, the give and go between the characters, the light-hearted feel, coupled with the extreme darkness of both Solomon and, then, the Doctor. Plus Rory's dad, go Brian go! 8.
Town - My least favourite episode of the series so far, it only registered a 7 for me but it wasn't too bad and I enjoyed it more on rewatches. I loved the bits with the darker side to the Doctor in this one but for me the blurred morality didn't really work and the two main antagonists didn't really click. 7.
Power - Another episode I really enjoyed. Some really important and ultimately heart-breaking scenes between the three central characters. The Ponds choosing to give up their life at home and travel with the Doctor is genuinely devastating when you know in the next episode he'll lose them forever. For me, the monster plot was almost a sideline and I personally didn't mind the resolution - better than some lovey-dovey stuff we've seen anyway. 8.
Angels - Annoying predictability is this episode's only flaw. Otherwise, it was great to see River again, loved all the timey-wimey stuff and it was an excellent resolution. Dragging the Weeping Angels back to basics worked so well and who can forget that heart-breaking final scene between the Doctor and Amy. People saying it wasn't sad, we weren't supposed to feel sorry for Amy and Rory, they got their happy ending. But, once again, the Doctor was left alone and watching him almost beg Amy not to leave him...touching. 9.
Snowmen - Well well well Clara Oswin Oswald. I've enjoyed all the Claras, with the one from Asylum just shading her here. I loved the bit in the TARDIS and the scene with the umbrella and her gut-wrenching death (why didn't those damn doors shut?) and ultimately, the resolution here let the episode down. Very good sides to the Doctor here, with Pond spurring him back into life after losing Amy and Rory. 8.
Bells - This episode felt a little underwhelming but I don't know why. In truth, it was a very strong episode, Clara got a great introduction and here her relationship with the Doctor is great (snog box ha!). The resolution was classic Doctor, a little darker edge but awesome science, which is the Doctor's strength and should be what this show is about. I think ultimately, the lack of knowledge of the Clara storyline, coupled with the fact it wasn't as spectacular as Asylum, is why I only give it an 8.
Rings - 8/9 Still tempted to bump this up but my initial reaction was that as much as I loved the beginning and the end, it was a bit of a sloppy middle. Matt Smith here steals the show in his final speech as he shows all his years and his disdain for the monster, coupled with the emotion of a man who has seen far too much. But Jenna-Louise Coleman is also on top form and her scenes with young Merry are fantastic, and I love all the exposition for her backstory.
Cold War - A lack of Doctor/Clara action really ruins this ep for me. Great monster, good secondary characters, although the professor seemed literally pointless to me except to chat to Clara. But another ep with an underwhelming resolution and no new developments on the Clara front. 8
Hide - The best ep of 7b. The Doctor and Clara are better than ever together here and their chemistry really fizzles. I loved the ghostyness of it, Clara's falling out with the TARDIS, the monster was suitably spooky and I loved the sci-fi. And, if I'm honest, the resolution stepped it up a notch. 9
So to sum up, if it's not my favourite, it's going to be up there.
