Lamb chops tonight
I don't dislike lamb but lamb chops are just such a chore to eat imo. My OH loves them and they have been in the freezer a while so I can't put it off for ever!Wondered if anyone here had any wonderful experiences of lamb chops meals .... We usually have the usual potatoes, veg & gravy  cus that's OH's favourite - but he would be up for trying other recipes i think... There are a few out there on the usual websites but I wondered if anyone on here had any personal Lamb chop WOW moments to give me any inspiration

My OH is exactly the same and I also find cooking that sort of meal extremely tedious - I usually make myself a nice stir-fry or curry while he has his!
One way that I do do them sometimes is as a hot-pot - coat them in seasoned flour, brown them in a pan and then sit them on a bed of sliced onions & carrots in a casserole, top them with sliced potatoes and then pour over gravy made with the juices from browning them. Cook in a medium oven till the potatoes are tender and then turn oven high and take off the lid so the potatoes can brown. You could also slow cook them with red wine and rosemary as in my lamb shank recipe here - http://suki-c.hubpages.com/hub/Lamb-...-with-rosemary |

Coat them in curry paste and leave them to marinate for an hour or two in the fridge and then just grill. This means you can have yours with flavour and just leave his plain.

I do a standard lamb cassreole (lamb chops, spuds, carrots etc) but I add a couple of teaspoonsful of mint sauce to the stock. Absolutely delicious.
Cook long and slow. |

I love lamb but nobody else in my family likes it, so I rarely buy a lamb joint.
![]() But chops I love, with the first crop of Jersey Royals, a selection of mixed veg, mint sauce and gravy. My mouth's watering just thinking about it! Simple but yummy

Lamb chops and chicken wings = waste of time. I'm with you on that OP.

Very simple.
I rub the chops with a mixture of Ras El Hanout and olive oil then pan-fry (perhaps some oven time too, depending on type of chop). This is served with spicy couscous to which I have added another spoonful of the Ras El Hanout and some semi-cooked veg (tomatoes, spring onion, peppers etc.) so it makes more of a warm salad than a hot side. |

Yep, Patak's Tandoori or Tikka paste, mix with yoghurt, grill or oven bake. Tasty, quick and easy.

Mix together ground coriander, cumin, ginger, cloves, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and salt and then rub it into the chops. Fry the chops, ensuring that they're still nice and pink inside.
Serve with either regular sweet potato mash or bake sweet potatoes until soft, peel them, crush the flesh, fry some onions and garlic until soft then add the potato to the pan and fry together for a few minutes (add a little stock if it appears dry). |

What food/meals have you eaten because you saw it in a movie or TV show?
Last week I watched The Silence Of The Lambs for the umpteenth time but for some reason this time his meal of extra rare lamb chops with fava beans and a baked potato looked rather good. So the next day I made it. I bought a two pack of Barnsley chops and some frozen broadbeans. I trimmed the chops down a little then fried the fat first then fried them on both sides and put them in the oven. I simply microwaved the broadbeans and cooked the jacket spud properly in the oven (not using the combi as a cheat). I made a red wine sauce with the pan juices and some port. The chops came out medium rather than extra rare but it was one of the best meals i've made for quite a while. Too bad the chops were a bit pricey and for not much total meat. Any that you've made? (excluding Red Dwarf as that has it's own thread ) ![]() https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink |
