Have you seen the US Apprentice?
I made this thread a while ago, but it is long since dead so I'd thought I'd revive it since I've been re-watching recently.
How many of you have watched the American Apprentice and how many of you enjoy it? I've seen the first three seasons and I do enjoy it, but it isn't in the same league as the UK one in my opinion. Trump's firings are often random and everything is over-dramatised. In general I find the standard of candidates higher in the UK version as well. What do you all think? |

I watch it, but I much prefer the UK version. It feels more natural. The US version is so over-the-top, full of cheesy music, Trump making constant references to "we're the number 1 show on TV", etc.
Our boardrooms are also much more entertaining imo. Alan Sugar seems harsher, which makes for good TV.

Glad someone else has shown an interest in it! I reall enjoy it and am watching the Celebrity Apprentice USA which is currently down to its final 6.
If you think the first few series of it are dramatic, try the 6th/7th (cannot remember which one) where the losing team have to live in tents outside a mansion the winning team stays in. It's like Survivor meets the Apprentice. It almost becomes a soap opera and detracts from the business side of things. Nonetheless it is extremely entertaining and the winner was great! hat year was probably the strongest overall as well so I'd recommend it. And some firings have been utterly atrocious, it verges on unbelievable, and Donald becomes extremely hypercritical for his reasons - basically, he has his favourites and is prepared to go back on his word to save them and fire someone else. None of the above examples had anything to do with the tasks! I agree he had his favourites.

I watched the 3rd Celebrity edition when it was on BBC earlier this year and absolutely loved it, so I've started watching the other celebrity series online
I think as a business show and for what the show actually is, the UK apprentice does a better job, and I agree with other posters that some of Trump's firings are absolutely ridiculous (the episode where he fired T-Boz and Khloe Kardashian comes to mind ) However in terms of an entertainment show, I much prefer the US version. It has some amazing moments in terms of drama, and some of the celebrities they get are brilliant! I watched the last normal addition that was on BBC after Celebrity Apprentice 3 ended, however I didn't enjoy it as much as the celebrity versions so I don't think I'd watch another one. Celebrity Apprentice is one of my favourite shows ever though

For me, it is mainly a business show. So, the celebrity versions are not for me (except smaller editions like for comic relief, which doesn't take itself serious). Unlike "The Mole" which is still running in my country with (minor) celebs.
As for the American business version, series 1 and series 3 were good, while series 2 was entertaining (in a sort of uk series 4 kind of way). Do think that Sugar is better then Trump, who is a bad actor reading from cue cards. |

I watched the start of the first episode, but when someone thought it would be a good idea to charge $1,000 for a glass of lemonade, I decided it wasn't for me.
I've watched a few episodes of various international editions, but the only one I've actually got quite into is The Apprentice Australia. I found that pretty enjoyable - there is only one series (not including celebrity editions) and it's all on YouTube. |

The US version seems to just do celebrity shows which makes more sense to be honest. It's more like the WWE than a true reality show and the firings seem to be based on what makes the best TV rather than any skill. The whole show justs acts as advertising for Trumps cronies being a dick seems to guarantee you stay around, but as they are "celebs" I don't care. Series 3 of the Ozzie Celeb version has just started this week. I like that for different reasons. Bouris is a series businessman, more in the mold of Ireland's Bill Curran than the buffoon Trump is and the tasks are a lot harder. It's much more like watching a regular UK version. This might be coloured by the fact that I have no idea who any of the celebs are of course |

Prefer the UK version generally though enjoyed Trump firing four in one go in series five.

The US version has more varied, imaginative and worthwhile tasks. It also had better task rewards and a better job for the winner at the end. More money generally.
The UK has a better "boss" in Lord Sugar; he delves deeper into what happened on tasks and doesn't just fire which ever candidate the losing team chooses to scapegoat. The editing is better; we get to see a bit more of what happened on task. Overall I prefer the UK version. |

I like the Celeb US version but I think Mr Trump makes awful decisions based on ratings nearly all the time. EG if your in a feud with someone on the show your nearly in the final.

Donald Trump is an idiot.. I don't wish to watch anything with that petulant 'man' in it. Wouldn't be surprised if he wrote with crayons. Plus his hair looks like someone threw it at him.

They compliment each other well as the US version is pure razzamatazz (in keeping with Trump's bombastic style) where as they UK is one is more 'no nonsense' (in keeping with Alan Sugar's style).
The in-show advertising is through the roof on the American version it has to be said. |

They've basically given up on non-Celebrity versions in the US because the ratings last time they tried it a few years back were so poor, and even the current celebrity version is an "All-Stars" edition featuring previous contestants, so obviously the pool of willing & available celebs must be pretty drained by now...
I do like the ridiculous OTT-ness of the US celeb version, though almost 90 minutes per episode (without ads) is far too long, but if push comes to shove, I do prefer the "naturalness" of the UK version. I do disagree that the UK contestants are better though - virtually all of the (non-celeb) US competitors had MBAs or law degrees, though I did always find it strange that all the females tended to look like supermodels, or perhaps they just all had makeovers before filming... |

Yeah Gary is annoying and the only reason he stayed in as long as he did was because Trump had to keep the last remaining ridiculous character in after Omarosa got fired.
Lisa Rinna to win |

I've only seen little bits of the US one, but it has always seemed a far better show. I was watching the final four on one particular series recently - came down to an old guy who looked a bit like Meat Loaf v a young guy who looked like Matthew McConnaughey - and the contestants were really high quality, except one weirdo. Also the tasks are so much better, and the winning PM of each task got to meet with the CEO of another company, which is an amazing networking opportunity, given that 14 of the 15 don't get 'the' job.
On the flipside, Trump having his kids as his advisers shows how great Margaret and Nick were! |
