Hi mackembloke72,
You dont have to use TT supplied powerline adaptors, but we cannot give any guarentees of compatibility so it does limit the support we can offer should you encounter issues. That said, should you experience issues we will usually request you test direct connections to the router to rule out failures of the powerline adaptors/internal wiring issues, irrespective of where the powerlines were purchased from. If you have any further queries feel free to contact us either via the TalkTalk Members Forum or via Twitter @TalkTalk Care Regards Mark TalkTalk Online Community Department |

I had to purchase the TT powerline adapters as the ones I had wouldn't work with the TT Youview service.

I had my own powerline adapters (from Devolo) before my TTYV box was installed and there are no problems.

Sorry, they are two years old and the box was discarded long since. I can tell you, however, that they are blue in colour and quite a bit squarer than the TT ones. The sticker bears the info. MT: 2173, if that is any help. I bought a pair for the back-up PC in the spare room, which isn't wireless, but also added a third in the knowledge that YouView was on the way and I would need it sooner or later. When the guy came round to install the box, he had a pair of TT home plugs, but saw that I had my own and suggested trying them first. They worked fine and continue to do so.

Be warned that if you have more than one distribution ( fuse ) board in you house, any type of powerline adapter may not work if one plug is on one board and the other on a different board. I had this problem and they did not work at all, they worked fine when both plugs were on the same board.

.so i know i need powerline adapters. http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/publications/whitepaper195 http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...&highlight=plt http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...&highlight=plt http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...&highlight=plt http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...&highlight=plt You need a CAT 5 cable connection. Better and faster than any another method .Simple as well. The cable is smaller than satellite or aerial cable and is easy and cheap to run. |

Also - go for flat Cat 5e cable. Easy to run - even under carpets.
