I like Clara, it's not someone the Doctor has just invited along, he needs her with him to find out her mystery. Compared with other new who companions here is what I think.

1. Amy (and Rory)
2. Donna
3. Clara
4. Martha
5. Rose

This is not saying I dislike Rose.

4) Clara
5) Martha

I don't think you should rank the companions, they are all different people and all have different characters. Clara is amazing in her own way, so is Donna, Rose, Amy, Martha, Jack and all the other companions. What I personally love about her is the mystery surrounding her about what she is and her energetic yet different character. She's great, amazing in fact!

I really like Clara so far, and Jenna as an actress. It feels like a lot of people on these boards had preconceived gripes against her, that are getting in the way of their judgement. But I can't say too much about that, as I am still physically sick at the thought of Catherine Tate

Jenna is brilliant though, and this is a shame, she isn't being allowed to simply be a normal companion, aka one with a more relatable backstory and someone who's more open, which is always a great counter to the Doctor's secrecy.
