To many dark episodes

Lately nearly every episode has been set in either a dark ship, a dark cave, a dark submarine and a dark tunnel.
Why don't they make Who bright with episodes set on different planets, in the modern world, period times and the middle ages?

Also we don't get any famous people from the past any more that Charles Dickens and Agatha Christie.

Erm, just so we're clear is this a genuine criticism or a parody thread?

OK. Well the first episode of series 7B was set on modern day Earth and seemed pretty bright to me? The second episode, the rings of wotsit was set on a different planet and VERY bright? Todays episode also seemed very bright to me, great big orangey looking eye of Harmony. Next weeks episode is set in period times.

Apart from the episodes set in New York, present day London (twice), Victorian London, a 1970s country house, the Wild West and an Alien planet you mean?

Next week we have a period piece set in the North of England.

So out of your list of what you want to see you have been given all but one of those things.

And in recent times Churchill and Nefertiti...two historical characters matching the two examples you gave.

Say what you like about 7a and 7b but it has been super varied.

I think Queen Nefertiti was the historical figure for this series.

I don't think the brightness of the episodes has much baring on whether an episode is good or not. Bells of St John was a bright episode in modern day and that wasn't that long ago (I liked it btw).

Also, it's generally hard for monsters to sneak up on you in broad daylight

Oh, I thought you meant dark as in tone rather than visually, in which case I was about to argue I love Doctor Who dark.

That's probably because people moaned: 'Oh another famous person shoe-horned into a episode AGAIN...sigh, harrumph etc.'
