Didn't the parasite god steal some of his memories? is this going to be important at some point?

Steal or share memories?

Share, I thought. Though it's easier to share if you just take...

Oh so even though it took his memories he still kept them as well? I did not get that...

Well, Merri-thingumy could have sat there and started telling him her stories: "Once upon a time there were four rabbits, and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter..." - but it would be far quicker just to kill her and extract her memories that way!

Depends on how hungry he was, I guess...

I think we're supposed to assume that the Doctor didn't lose anything - in particular, it appears that the god physically consumes that which contains the memories, whether person or leaf, and that didn't happen.

It was a little unclear, as written it sounded like it consumed the Doctor's memories and then wanted more - but look at it from a different angle and it could be interpreted that it actually saw all the Doctor's dark secrets and instead of consuming them, it physically recoiled from them.

The ongoing theme is the Doctor's secrets, and the things he keeps secret, supposedly to protect others.

Thanks that makes a lot of sense. It wasn't clear in the writing but even so I think it's a brilliant ep!
