Soundbar Question
Hey,
Okay I have a Sony w5810 with a PS3, Xbox and Apple TV all connected via HDMI. The sound from the TV isn't the best so I was looking for something to improve it at low cost. I came across the Roth Sub Zero which looks quite good and under £100. Will I be able to connect this to my TV via an optical cable and have sound from all my devices passed onto it? Also I have read some TVs can't handle passing through DD5.1 but unsure if this one can. Thanks. Gormond. |

The spec says it has an Optical Out so it will certainly pass-through audio from all devices connected to the TV. Don't know about passing through surround but would expect it to as it would be rather pointless to not do so given it also has an RCA (analogue stereo) audio output. The user guide is conveniently ambiguous on this point Quote:
Optical Out
Sets the audio signal that is output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) jack of the TV. Set to “Auto”, when connecting equipment compatible with Dolby Digital. Set to “PCM”, when connecting equipment not compatible with Dolby Digital. |

Thanks for the reply, would you say there would be a noticeable increase in quality over the speakers on the TV?
And is the Sub Zero the best sound bar at this price bracket? |
