Why didnt Blue chart tonight?
Blue released "Get Down On It" this week and I saw it in the shops. It wasn't in the chart tonight (Radio1) - although it featured in the Sunday People newspaper chart.
Can anyone shed any light on this?? |

It was in breach of the Official Chart Company rules, on page 4 of their rules on their site.

They had too many extra things added to it, so it wasn't chart eligible.

Or the general public saw sense and avoided purchasing it.

You gotta love the daft rules of the Official charts these days, only a few years ago you were allowed as much music on a disc, as many formats, and as many tracks you liked unless you included an extra format with it like MC or a VHS tape.

In order to be included in the chart, you are only allowed to release on a set number of formats (say 2CD's (one Mini, one Maxi) and a DVD), and those discs are only allowed to have a certain amount of extras on them (videos, b-sides.... etc) Quote:
a) “2 Track” CD Compact Disc Minimum 1.20 10 minutes and no more than two audio tracks. No multimedia content. Only three of the above are allowed.
b) “Maxi” CD/DVD Compact Disc/DVD Minimum 1.79 20 minutes and no more than three tracks plus remixes of those tracks. c) 7-inch Vinyl up to 7" Minimum 0.50 20 minutes and no more than three tracks. d) 12-inch Vinyl over 7" Minimum 1.99 20 minutes and no more than three tracks plus remixes of those tracks. e) Cassette Tape Minimum 1.20 20 minutes and no more than three tracks. OR Remix Single: One title and any number of remixes to a maximum of 40 minutes Applies to any of the above formats with the exception of “2 Track” CD singles as defined in Section 1a. f) Multimedia CDs/DVDs All other Chart eligibility rules apply. Disc must play on all standard audio CD/DVD equipment. Multimedia element must be directly related to the artist in question and not previously available for purchase in its entirety as a separate product. |

Only three of the above are allowed. Weird! So surely Blues record execs should have known all this criteria? |

Or perhaps they knew it wouldn't chart well, so they scuppered it deliberately.
But no, the music business wouldn't ever be that cynical, would it? |

Hey I've not posted in this forum before so hey all!
I live in Edinburgh and here we have a sofa warehouse place called SWS.... and the radio ad for it is "Get Down On It" but instead its "Sit Down On It"... yet another reason why I can't take blue's record seriously!! Anyone else heard the radio ad? Is SWS a branch... have people all over the country heard this or is it just me? |
