Who were the early favourites of each series?
Who were the early favourites of each series and where did they place? Also where did the winners rank in the favourite scale in the first few weeks?
I can't remember the first few series apart from Leona the clear favourite from day 1. I think series 4 Alesia, Andy and Nikki were the favourites. Leon was ranked in. Series 5 was Laura, Austin and Rachel. Alexandra was around the middle. Ruth was also a huge outsider. Ranked just above the two girl bands I think. Series 6 was Olly and Lucie I think. series 7 was Matt from day one. Cher and one Direction close behind. I'm sure series 8 Amelia and Frankie were the early on favourites! If I remember correctly. I actually think Little Mix were favourites to be booted out first! Series 9 was James, Ella and Jahmene were the favourites. Can anyone remember anything different? |

I don't know where you're getting some of these from....
Series 5 - Laura, then when Diana after week three. Then Alexandra after the week Diana sang 'Patience'. Series 6 - Joe was favourite, with Stacey second pretty much the whole time. But before live shows Danyl Johnson was favourite - actually....in week 2 he was still favourite. Series 7 - Cher was the massive favourite at the start. After bootcamp Matt became favourite. Going into the lives it was Matt, then Rebecca, then One Direction, then Cher for the rest of the series really - with One Direction becoming second favourites on the night of the finale. Series 8 - Janet was the favourite. Misha B got really close 2nd favouirte after first live show. On the fourth live result show i checked the odds and Misha B was favourite - i remember cause i had an argument about weather being labelled a bully would effect her, i said it didnt cause she was favourite -(weird after the bullying accusation) then she went bottom 2 and her odds drifted massively. Janet back at top, but Little Mix overtook her by week 6. Series 9 - Jahmene and Ella pretty much exactly the same, but Jahmene was ahead. James wasn't really a big favourite until week 3 in live shows. |

Janet was going to win but then she decided she preferred losing so she started messing up some lyrics.

Im not so sure about that, I mean, she did seem unhappy during the season but everytime she got through the next week you could tell that she was truly happy... I think she wanted to stay but she didn't like how she was being mentored or manipulated, she wanted to do her own thing. However, I dont believe that she messed up her lyrics on purpose..

I don't know if you have heard of the Freudian Slip. I think that's exactly what occurred.

That's hilarious!
Of course she wanted to win. xD "Devlin lost her place in the show when she came up against the much-maligned Misha B in the sing-off. By that stage, she insists, she wanted to leave. She had fallen out of favour with the public, the judges were increasingly unimpressed with her performances, and some sections of the press had labelled her a one-trick-pony." If you have read what she thinks of the show and the fact that she chose an indie label instead of a big record label, then you can understand that she didn't want to win.

Source : http://www.culturenorthernireland.or...after-x-factor It's the most ridiculous claim i have read on digital spy. Forgetting the lyrics on purpose. Of course, it has nothing to do with her absolute shite singing. |

Oh but I'm not a fan of Janet Devlin at all. And I didn't say she did it on purpose. I thought it was more like a Freudian slip.
May I remember that she was the clear favourite to win having won the first four weeks. |

Can't remember series 2 but I imagine Shayne was pretty much fave from say 1 Leona wasn't the clear favourite from day 1 actually. Ben Mills (Over 25s) was! She was third favourite but gradually shortened. Alisha definitely wasn't a favourite of Series 4 either; I remember that Rhydian and Same Difference were some of the least favourites to win. The favourites were Nikki, Futureproof and Hope. Series 5 youre pretty spot on. Although Alexandra was middle of the field in the voting, she was about 5th favourite to win and then just shortened later on. Laura, Diana, Austin were the three favourites though. Series 6 the two favourites before the first live show were surprisingly to some, Stacey and Lucie! This was followed by Danyl, Joe and Jamie. Series 7 I cannot actually remember but youre probably correct! I would add Rebecca quite high up though. Series 8 was withotu a doubt Janet, The Risk and Craig. They were the top 3, followed by Misha B. And yes LM were predicted to be first to go. Series 9 was Ella, James, Jahmene and Carolynne! |

No one in particular really. It keeps on changing every series, so I choose not to have any favorite at all. :P

Interesting thread.
![]() I couldn't say who was favourite in Series 1 -maybe Rowetta and Tabby? Series 2 I'd say Shayne. Series 3 Leona, Ben and Ashley...when Louis voted Ashley off in week 4 Simon refused to appear on Xtra (if I remember right) ![]() Series 4 I'd say Rhydian and Nicki Series 5 I'd say Laura and Diana Series 6 Joe, Stacey and Danyl Series 7 Matt and Rebecca and maybe Mary - wasn't she second in the votes for a few weeks? Series 8 Misha started off well and I think The Risk were popular? Series 9 James and Ella with Jahmene just behind - though Christopher was popular with the public ![]() I really have to think who goes with which series. For some reason Series 7 - 9 seem to blend into one

One thing every poster has got wrong in this thread is the fact that they've missed out Marcus Collins from series 8.
He was the one who took over from Janet in week 5 as Bookies Favourite (with his 'Reet Petite' performance) and was the firm favourite until either week 7 or week 8 when Amelia/Little Mix took over. |

Janet - First 4 weeks of live show. Misha - About 4 days favourite. Janet again until week 6. Little Mix had caught up with her. Then Amelia came back and lots of odds went on her, she became favourite, then Little Mix became massive favourites. |

Series 4 - Before the live shows Niki, Same Difference and Rhydian were favourites to leave. Then after that show Leon replaced them and Niki and Rhydian moved to the top alongside Hope. Strange that the top four that year were so near the bottom at the beginning. The other guys were early bookie favourites: Andy, Daniel and Futureproof.
Series 5 - Rachel was indeed the favourite (or at least in the top two or three) following the auditions. Laura, Alexandra and Austin moved in after Boot Camp/Judges' Houses, with Alexandra a little in front but Laura taking her place following Live #1. Diana moved in front of Laura after the second or third live show, and held onto it until Alexandra sang Listen in the Top 5. Series 6 - I recall it being between Danyl, Lucie and Stacey during the auditions, then it was between Lucie and Stacey for a good while until Olly moved in after Week 4 or something like that. Joe was similar to Alexandra; it wasn't really until his consecutive Elton John performances that he hit his stride. Series 7 - Cher was the audition favourite, Matt moved in after his Boot Camp performance and pretty much stayed there until the very end. Gamu was a weird one because some places had her ahead of Matt during Boot Camp, whereas others were clearly setting her odds in accordance to the rumour that she hadn't made Cheryl's group of girls. |

Series 1 I'm not sure probably between Steve Rowetta and Tabby.
Series 2 Maria and Shayne I say was around the same then when Maria left then it was just Shayne Series 3 Leona Series 4 Rhydian Series 5 Diana and Laura as well probably Series 6 Danyl Series 7 Cher and Matt Series 8 Janet although after Rolling in the Deep Misha became a big favoutite obviously she wasn't after all the bully gate nonesense. Series 9 Ella |
