1. Vincent and the Doctor. Rubbish monster, but this was about Vincent and Tony Curran's performance. The scene in the gallery was just wonderful.

2. The Doctor's Wife. The scenes with House tormenting Amy and Rory in the TARDIS were wonderfully dark and disturbing.

3. The Angels Take Manhattan. OK, the Statue of Liberty was a bit silly and wasn't needed, but the Angels were back and the best they'd been since Blink.

4. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS. I always like seeing more of the TARDIS than just the control room, and I liked the creatures and the horrific explanation of what they were.

5. Night Terrors. I know a lot of you weren't fans, but I liked the idea of the little boy putting everything that scared him in the dolls house.

6. A Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone. This one screwed around with the concept of the Angels more than I liked, but it was still a very satisfying chiller. The scene with Amy trapped with the TV monitor was a stand-out.

7. Amy's Choice. Great concept in the Dream Lord, and some cracking writing.

8. Hide. I love the spooky ones.

9. The Bells of St John. A really storming opening.

10. The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood. Again, I know this wasn't popular with many, but I love the Pertwee-era feel to it.

11. The Girl Who Waited. Liked it a lot.

My personal favourites are TEH, TBB from S5 and fron S6 TDW,AGMGTW and TGWW.
S7 AOTD ,TATM and TROA have been good so far. Looking forward to more drama, scares and comedy in the last 3 episodes of S7 and a great 50th special.

1. Vincent and the Doctor - the most beautiful Doctor Who story of them all
2. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang - for managing to feel both epic and intimate at the same time
3. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon - for the sheer scale and ambition of it
4. The Girl Who Waited - because of the three impeccable performances from the lead cast
5. The Doctors Wife - for its flawless script
6.The Elventh Hour - now THATS how you introduce a new Doctor
7. Hide - for bringing back the spooky
8. Asylum of the Daleks - for THAT plot twist
9. Angels in Manhatten - for the emotional pay off and excellent film noir look
10. A Christmas Carol - for it's sheer cleverness
11. The Snowmen - for its deft shades of darkness and light.

honerable mentions: Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, A Good Man Goes to War, The God Complex.

11) The Girl Who Waited

Wonderful episode packed to the brim with pathos and heart, and that final sting where it is revealed that the doctor has been lying to older amy is one of the most tangibly shocking moments I've seen on the show. If it was slightly less saccharine and the handbots had been eschewed in favour of a more compelling monster it'd be higher up.

10) Amy's Choice

A pivotal story in the Amy / Rory arc and one laden with suspense and genuine peril. Toby Jones delivers probably the best guest performance of the Moffat era as the dream lord (who is as sadistically funny as he is perturbing) and the script is sincere and genuinely smart and cerebral - just how I like my Who.

9) A Good Man Goes To War

Yes the river reveal is protracted and a little obvious - and it has pacing problems relative to some of Moffat's other episodes, but there's a lot to love here - the introduction of vastra and jenny, kovarian, and the commentary on the doctor's lifestyle and the ramifications of his escapades, typified by the heartbreaking lorna bucket arc. I was disappointed with it at the time but it grew on me on subsequent viewings.

8) Let's Kill Hitler

I'm an unabashed fan of Moffat's timey wimey river song arc, so perhaps its not a surprise that others didn't receive this episode quite as well as I did, but I really felt like this episode delivered on everything I had wanted from a river song reveal story in a way that A Good Man Goes to War perhaps didn't. The mels regeneration scene is probably the most surprising twist in Moffat's era and the script is replete with humour and wit, even if the tesselecta is a bit of a weak villain (though river is the villain, really)

7) The God Complex

Easily Whithouse's strongest script and his most compelling claim to the office of showrunner for me. The story is smart, almost too smart for a who episode (with the way the monster works being a thinly veiled allegory for religion) and the guest cast all pop - Rita, Howie, even Gibbis all bring an extra dimension to proceedings without being overbearing.

6) The Doctor's Wife
A better "journey to the centre of the TARDIS" than "journey to the centre of the TARDIS" - despite the comparable minuscule budget. The scenes where house toys with amy and rory probably constitute the scariest since those in blink, and the sheer inventiveness of the world Gaiman creates is breathtaking, and the acting - man. It'd be higher if it didn't end on a deus ex machina.

5) Asylum of the Daleks

For what it is its perfect - JLC delivers her first and best performance as oswin and the ending is genuinely poignant and moving.

4) The Eleventh Hour

Easily the best companion introduction episode and probably Moffat's most efficient piece of writing on the show. Funny, shocking, exciting exhilirating - and the denouement (defeating prisoner zero with the phone virus) doesn't come out of nowhere - it actually makes sense, that shouldn't be refreshing for Who but it is!

3) The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang

The best finale in nuwho by a country mile.

2) Time of Angels / Flesh & Stone

That jaw-dropping timey-wimey introduction, the return of river song and the doctor's associated trepidation, the image of an angel is an angel conceit, the twist that all of the statues that they've passed are actually angles (did you see this coming? I didn't), that cliffhanger, amy counting down (how ominous was that?), the crack erasing people from time and the ramifications of that, amy walking through the forest blinded. The only nitpick I have with these episodes is the scene where we see the angels move, but that doesn't detract from the multifarious aspects in which the episodes excel.

1) The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon

This is what I want doctor who to be - smart, stylish, inventive, shocking scary, complicated, heartbreaking. The way Moffat plays with the audience's perception of time in the silence scenes in day of the moon is such a smart conceit (and its reprisal in the wedding of river song is the only redeeming facet of that episode) and is used to great dramatic effect. The end solution (you should kill us all on sight) is probably the most compelling in any nuwho story, and that final sting at the end with river (there's a first time for everything... and a last time)

Oooh boy so much choice

Right then, in order of best to worst (worst of my 11 best that is xD)

1. Asylum of the Daleks
2. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
3. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang
4. The Eleventh Hour
5. Journey to the Centre of the Tardis
6. The Wedding of River Song
7. The Angels Take Manhattan
8. The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone
9. Let's Kill Hitler
10. Hide
11. The Snowmen

So 4 from series 7, 3 each from 5 and 6 and a Christmas special. Though technically 4 from 7, 5 from 5 and 4 from 6.

Unlucky to miss that 11th spot included Rings of Akhaten, The Beast Below, The God Complex and

Quick mention for being absolutely awful, I mean beyond bad:

The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe
Night Terrors

Oh, christ. Something like...

1. The Girl Who Waited
2. The Eleventh Hour
3. The Impossible Astronaut
4. The Pandorica Opens
5. Hide

6. The Time of Angels
7. A Christmas Carol
8. The Snowmen
9. Asylum of the Daleks
10. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS

11. The Doctor's Wife

Numbers are approximate. Basically in chunks of five - not intentionally, very quickly worked out my top five, bringing it to ten was harder, and choosing the last one was very tricky indeed, gaps aren't as arbitrary as they look. Happy with that selection, though.

Edit - wait, crap, I forgot about Vincent!!

Okay, change that:

1. The Girl Who Waited
2. The Eleventh Hour
3. The Impossible Astronaut
4. The Pandorica Opens
5. Vincent and the Doctor
6. Hide

7. The Time of Angels
8. A Christmas Carol
9. The Snowmen
10. Asylum of the Daleks
11. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS

YAY My favourite era of the show to pick from (discounting the current bit with Clara though Can't stand her!)

1. The Girl Who Waited On a performance episode alone this is fab as Matt, Karen and Arthur are all brilliant, but as a story as well it's just great.

2. The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon A brilliant 2-parter showcasing Moff at his best. Everyone is great, the Silence are amazing, Canton is good. The little girl regenerating revelation, just immense!

3. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang THE best finale to date with a great sense of everything collasping around everyone. The auton surprise was great and just the writing in general was rather brilliant too.

4. A Good Man Goes to War/Let's Kill Hitler Personally, I never figured out the River reveal, so it was properly amazing and brilliant - Vastra, Jenny and Strax's introduction too - what's not to love? LKH was just as great...Rory punching Hitler anyone?

5. The Eleventh Hour THE best Doctor/companion introduction in Nu-Who by far with a great plot. Matt was great from the off, as were Karen and Arthur. Brilliance all around.

6. The Beast Below I love episodes that focus on moralistic choices and tough decisions, so this suited it so well. The magical feeling for Amy of being in space was great and it introduced us to Liz 10, who I adore as a character. She needs to return, PRONTO!

7. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship A lovely fun romp of an episode that showed the great chemistry the Doctor and Rory had as a pairing. Made me realise even more how I'd miss him the most of the Ponds. Supporting characters just as great too; Brian being the best!

8. The Angels Take Manhattan A triumphant and lovely ending to my favourite companions by far. Lovely acting all round and the Weeping Angels back at their creepy best!

9. The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe Mr minority view here but I love this Christmas special. The magical warm lovely feeling I get watching the first half is something no other Xmas special has done for me. The resolution is heartbreaking and Claire Skinner gives by far one of the best guest showings Nu-Who has had in my opinion.

10. Vincent and Doctor Tony Curran and Bill Nighy...need I say anymore? Brilliant episode all round - the scene with Dr Black and Vincent in the gallery was just amazing.

Special mentions go to the Doctor's Wife, Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, Amy's Choice, Vampires of Venice, the Rebel Flesh/Almost People, the God Complex and Asylum of the Daleks....

PLUS all the others (barring any Mark Gatiss episode of course! )

It's interesting with the God Complex, its sort of the Moffat era equivalant of Gridlock for me, in that I was a little underwhelmed with them when they aired but have grown to appreciate them more as times passes. The only thing that probably just kept it off my list is that while I do like the closing scene in its own right, it does feel a bit welded on.

For me its a strong Smith perfomance, very claustrophobic, even David Wallimas doesnt wreck it and theres a lovely seen where the Doctor sees his biggest fear and says 'Of course, what/who else would it be.' (I reckon he sees himself/destryoing Gallifrey or some such...

Just to throw my hat into the ring for The God Complex love...
I love it. And it is much like Gridlock for me as well in that it grew in my affections the more I watch it. Some episodes just hit you WHAM! right away but others are slow burners and TGC is one of those. I think it is easily not only Toby W's finest DW episode but the best thing he has written full stop (go easy on me BH fans!).

I love the feel of the episode. Creepy Tales of the Unexpected/Dahl/Hammer House of Horror/Rising Damp style stuff with some visually great set pieces. The moment with the ventriloquist dummies is so bizarre and well done. The idea of each room is simply brilliant and the supporting cast is great. That's without even mentioning the grander theme about belief, faith and religion that runs through its centre. If any episode points and laughs at allegations DW has in anyway dumbed down or become childish this is one of them. Brave and mature and intelligent while retaining classic Who scares.

Some of the directorial flourishes are borderline genius, I love the fact it goes all a bit Tron towards the end and even the final scene, while tacked on a bit, is achingly played by Smith and Gillan.

I've gotten this far without even mentioning my favorite bit not only of this episode but possibly S6...the fantastically sad and touching scene between Amy, young Amy and the Doctor. Perfectly written and for whatever reason it gets me every time. That call back to Young Amelia sat on her case waiting combined with a moment of absolute guard down honesty from the Doctor is like a punch in the guts...but a really enjoyable one. After all the godlike posturing of the Tenth era this moment really put the Doctor back where he is best. He isn't a hero or a god. He really is just a madman in a box. And all the better for it.

A truly great episode.

Oh, please no! I'd rather have the Absorbaloff, the Kandyman and the Chief Caretaker arm-in-arm hoving into view than see Liz 10 again!

Top 11, hard to choose from a quality era of stories.

11. Vincent and the Doctor - had to rewatch this a few times to appreciate this feelgood piece of Doctor Who
10. The EleventhHour - still an interesting start for Eleven, a new era is successfully ushered in with this opener.
9. Cold War - All round good story, loved the fleshing out of the Ice Warrior race
8. Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone - great pace and the Weeping Angels are great
7. The Snowmen - Best christmas special since The Christmas Invasion
6. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship - Funny, Sad but superb entertainment also
5. The Doctor's Wife - Matt and Suranne superb acting and just the whole premise awesome
4. The Girl Who Waited - find this slightly offbeat in a Douglas Adams way but just love it. Rory and Amy's best story for me.
3. The Bells of Saint John - clever plot and well written
2. Asylum of the Daleks - Dark, scary and desperate Daleks sheer brilliance
1. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang - superb sci-fi for starters, the Alliance, the cyberman/Amy scene, the cliffhanger, the ending... need I go on
