Hello guys, I have a problem with my Ipad mini - recently purchased from new.

Whenever I plug it in to charge it, it charges but it also does things by itself.

I plugged it in just now, it opened up a game, closed the game down, then started playing a song. It continuously does things while it is on charge and If i attempt to use it while it is on charge, it just does other things.

Does anyone know why this might be? Is it a common fault?

Are you charging this whilst connected to your PC? Some apps might want to do something if they detect they are connected to Itunes or a power supply.

Try charging off a proper power source, also try turning off wifi or 3G before charging. Try turning off the device when you've connected it to the power supply.

Also try seeing what apps are still running double click the home button and a list of open apps should appeae, hold one down and you will see the little red and white close icon appear on each.

You could of course have a game installed that likes to start on power up to check for updates or other purchases.

It could also be something like the Connector, if you wiggle it what. Happens?

One outside shot might be if you have multi gestures switched on, so if you touch the screen the tablet can somtimes see that as an action.

Close all your apps, not just minimize them > press home button and top button down at the same time and keep holding until the mini turns off and until you see the Apple logo and then release > let it continue restarting as it will take a little longer to start compared to simply powering off > now try and duplicate your charging issue.

If the issue persists then try using the iPad mini until the mini turns off from a dead battery and then fully recharge it and then after some use try and duplicate you charging issue.

Finally, delete that game that opens up and try and duplicate the issue. If it turns out to be the game then download it again and reinstall and see if you can duplicate the issue. If the issue persists with the game as the cause then notify the game maker and in the meantime delete it until they fix it.

A hard reset like that doesn't actually close down apps, it's always surprised me but it doesn't. Just tried it in case IOS has changed recently, but no, all my tasks are still there.

I didn't say it did. In fact, I said close all apps before the reset.

Fair enough, but your message was ambiguous, if you reread it the ">" seemed to imply that what follows is the instruction for closing down all apps. I think that's how most people would have read it.

I don't think that's "how most people would have read it" but if anyone is confused they can merely ask for clarification.
