They need to do something with the channel, perhaps put it out of it's misery. It seems to be the place where all the mundane, unexciting domestic documentaries are put that fail to find a home elsewhere.

I notice The Bill on the list. At one point you could watch The Bill back-to-back throughout an entire day by switching between various UKTV and ITV channels.

I know that but the 'original' series only has partial drama elements in it and really shouldn't be on here. Last of the Summer Wine has NO drama elements in it at all.

I don't think Last of the Summer Wine has any comedy elements in it either.

I was wondering if their would be another channel reshuffle . A bit sneaky, because if G.O.L.D. had closed on LCN20, I think that LCN would have had to been reserved for Local TV in Scotland and Wales.. It makes complete sense for UKTV though.

I'd have preferred Home to Drama from UKTV. At least there's vague chance I might learn something about house building, rather than suffer a load of TV shows that I didn't watch the first/second/third/etc. time they aired.

Take back what I said about Blighty still existing beyond Drama's launch, it's now been removed on UKTV's website so looks like it will be replaced by Drama on the pay platforms.

Hurrah, finally GOLD off LCN20. Wonder if it's getting bumped somewhere else or is finally going. Local TV on 45 is a disaster, but that's another thread I guess...

I can see Drama being a big hit on Freeview, certainly the biggest competition ITV3 has seen.

At a guess, Dave Ja Vu will vacate channel 25 and GOLD will jump into that slot. freeing up channel 20 for Drama. That's assuming that they don't bring back the 2 hours a day service from Dave Ja Vu to grab another EPG slot. The slots could be quite useful if UKTV decide to operate channels on the temporary DVB-T2 multiplexes.

Well that sounds reasonable and for us few Top Up TV (TUTV) users I think suggests that will be that for GOLD ah well it was nice while it lasted unless as you say it moves to 25.

I had a look at the UKTV site and the how to watch our channels and it states GOLD via TUTV on channel 20, so not sure how old this is.

However the content is reasonable mix and seems to suggest that Yesterday will just be a factual channel from now on.

So it looks like Drama is taking Yesterday's sitcom/light ent offerings, which is a good thing.

Hopefully Yesterday goes back to more historical/documentary type programming.

Some of the former Blighty documentary programmes would be a good fit for Yesterday but I suspect that some historic dramas will still be shown on weekends and public holidays.

Given that GOLD is likely to close completely soon (maybe as soon as ESPN, as it's on the same stream), it may be more beneficial to UKTV to keep Dave Ja Vu on as a two-hour service and shunt GOLD down to a new LCN. When GOLD goes, Home will go too, so I anticipate UKTV doing something to try to retain Ch 26 too.


Not really, as they will be HD channels, which according to our digital overlords, are a separate genre so get a different range.

I'd expect 25 to be Dave Ja Vu and 26 to be Yesterday+1 even if they are only on for an hour a day each, Just to keep it going.

Who knows, perhaps UKTV might even do a deal with TUTV for the multiplex space and take over the Home / Gold stream and run something FTA. It all depends on what the TUTV contract is and how long they keep going.

Yes, but the initial changes will have to take place when Drama arrives on July 8th, if not sooner. I was trying not to speculate at this stage about what will happen when ESPN is removed at the end of July. The 2 hour slot previously used by Dave Ja Vu has been used to extend Really's operating hours, so it would also depend on whether UKTV want to keep the extended hours for Really.

There's already a 4 hour slot on the ESPN/Gold/Home/TUTV Anytime 1 stream given over to teleshopping with the Marketplace channel. The way things are going, that could become a 24 slot...



My assumption here was that if there aren't enough broadcasters willing to supply the full capacity of HD channels, broadcasters could be allowed to take unused capacity for full spec SD channels. They would be certainly be better quality than the COM mux SD channels. So UKTV could be hanging onto the slots for that reason, it's speculation.. I'm not saying it will happen. Obviously if they supply HD channels, they would be in the HD channel EPG range.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens to TUTV when ESPN leaves the platform...

As for UKTV Drama, I expect that channel will do very well in the BARB ratings given the list of programmes that have been highlighted in post #77 above.

Well yes, with BT removing the Sky Sports channels and not giving TUTV any access to their new channels, TUTV didn't have anything to replace this content so had to let the subscribers go. As for subscribers to the Anytime service, I've not heard anything new, it could just be business as usual. TUTV has been written off by forum members in the past, only to rise like a phoenix from the ashes. It will be interesting to see if they can pull it off again this time.

Wouldn't surprise me! Film4+1 has to fit in somewhere, and I was expecting that to take the ESPN slot (with Anytime fitted around it) - however it could just as easily take over from the temporary RB 302. Will be interesting whatever happens...

The line up for UK Drama looks interesting.It's worth it just for the original House of cards alone ! I would like to see Yesterday show some of all those documentaries which haven't been seen on British TV for years. One example would be The 10,000 day war, the history of the Vietnam war from the original French inolvment to America's eventual defeat. I am sure there must be a million and one others.
