I was going via the UKTV listings on there own website! Which shows Blighty closing at 2.56 am on the 6th. Then for the rest of the 6th Blighty no longer appears.
Digiguide has now been updated and shows Blighty closing at 3am on the 6th, it must have been a glitch. 2.56 sounds about right, they usually spend the last few minutes after the final show ends to promote their other channels and to ask viewers to say what they think about Blighty on the channel website... there won't be much point in saying that any more.

I see that the info on the top up tv off air screen has changed to tell you about the new Drama channel . It says to retune your freeview box at mid day on the 4th July

That's probably the latest date I would have expected it to happen.. but midday when Gold broadcasts from 11am to 2pm? They could have picked a better time.

Not the best time, hopefully the box will download the programmes from Gold so that when I get home in the evening I can re tune it. It did this last time Gold moved if I recall correctly.

They could have done a slightly better job on this and at least allowed you to do it a bit later in the day.

You don't have to retune dead on midday, you know! What about all the people at work? It just means they will have made the changes by then. The TUTV box should have no problem recording from GOLD if you haven't retuned - LCNs are just that - logical.

Yes, they are a UK thing largely, most countries don't use them. LCNs aren't part of the DVB spec and most DTT computer software, not written specifically for the UK, doesn't use them.

They are virtual channel numbers used to sort the channels into a logical order. Technically they are defined using the NorDig descriptor format in the Network Information Table.

The TUTV box and any other box that doesn't renumber channels automatically will just ignore LCN changes until the next retune. The Programme Map Table won't change, so any programmes should be downloaded as normal.

Disappointed after seeing the Radio times this morning that The Bill is going to be shifted off to first thing in the morning and last thing at night on Drama. So disappointed that I may give the whole channel a miss.

I am not sure that 8am is first thing in the morning.

The Bill does need a better time slot like 9pm.

I wonder if there's any chance of the midnight showing of The Bill at least being an unedited version? i.e. they could leave in any swearing or violence that they might have to take out at 8am. I'd have thought both versions would be the same sadly but hope there aren't too many cuts - the 2nd live episode of The Bill is virtually unwatchable when repeated on Watch; you have a man lying on the floor having been shot without showing any of the bit leading up to the shooting! I do find it a bit weird as to be honest The Bill isn't really a violent programme at all and of course was largely shown in a pre-watershed slot (not at the very end though of course!)

Many do however. UK, Ireland, France, Australia, and I believe New Zealand for starters.

A bit like the pre watershed showings of Minder on ITV4. The punch up scenes are all but cut out, which makes it just seem stupid.

That's what I thought, it matters not one jot to me what time a program is on these days as I never watch anything live, news and the occasional major event excepted.

In saying most countries don't use it, that should suggest that some countries do, I certainly wouldn't go as far as to say many countries do. It's a legacy arrangement to allow channel numbers to be assigned nationally, whereas most countries allow the consumer to assign their own numbers or letters and sort the channels to their own preference. It doesn't really work too well when receiving signals from multiple transmitter sites. It requires extra coding to dump duplicate LCNs from weaker signals and only keep the strongest. Not all countries have multiple broadcasters using the same transmitter site, the UK does, so it works reasonably well, other than adjacent transmitter channels being dumped into the 800 range.

Obviously the UK uses LCNs as that is what is being discussed and Ireland broadly uses the same standards as the UK. New Zealand also uses LCN's and Australia has a slightly more convoluted system. LCNs are also used in Italy although I haven't heard about them being used in France. That's pretty much it.

The US also uses something similar (virtual channel numbers) - e.g. Fox 25 Boston is now on UHF 31 but still has the channel number 25.1.

IIRC the Netherlands also use them with radio services starting from 1 again (hence the irritating TV/Radio split on many boxes). Sweden does as well.

The only countries I know which don't use LCNs are the German speaking ones.

Looking forward to watching Rumpole Of The Bailey again.

Interesting to see that Yesterday's schedule for next week has cut back on the drama content - apart from Ballykissangel there's very little drama content on at all - they obviously realise there will be a conflict and tried to reposition Yesterday's content where it used to be.

The EPG has been added in the last few minutes (hmm, Drama's schedule has matched a few of my Autorecs so my media centre has been plopping* away for the last few minutes*)

* the notification noise sounds like something landing in water...

Thanks for that, kev. My TV has just started populating the EPG, but the PVR is still waiting. I will retune the STB after I've watched the cycle racing.

My BT Vision box has updated and it shows the programmes from Monday beginning at 8am.

8:00-9:30am - The Bill
9:30-10:10am - Birds of a Feather
10:10-10:50am - Birds of a Feather
10:50-Midday - Born and Bred
Midday - 1:00pm - Monarch of the Glen
1:00-2:00pm - Rumpole of the Bailey
2:00-2:40pm - Last of the Summer Wine
2:40-3:20pm - Birds of a Feather
3:20-4:00pm - Birds of a Feather
4:00-5:10pm - Born and Bred
5:10-6;20pm - Monarch of the Glen
6:20-7:00pm - Last of the Summer Wine
7:00-7:40pm - Last of the Summer Wine
7:40-8:20pm - Birds of a Feather
8:20-9:00pm - Birds of a Feather
9:00-11:00pm - Inspector George Gently
11:00-Midnight - New Tricks
Midnight-1:30am - The Bill
1:30-2:00am - Great British Ghosts
2:00-5:00am - No Information available (I wonder what that's about!)
5:00-8:00am - Home Shopping

Other shows lined up for the rest of the week include Taggart, Call The Midwife, Wish Me Luck and Sharpe but my EPG only goes up to 11:30pm next Thursday night for now.

I dare say this channel will appeal to a few people and it is good to have choice but to be honest, I don't think I'll be watching anything here.

The following week I feel is more to my taste (Jonathon Creek, Cold Comfort Farm) but you need a 14-day EPG for those at this stage.
