Anyone been to The Square, Mayfair or Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley?

Has anyone been to either of these restaurants, or both?

They're both 2 Michelin star restaurants. I wanted to take my wife to one of them in a couple of months. I initially thought I'd take her to Marcus Wareing's, because we saw him on Masterchef (plus other programmes in the past) and thought it'd be cool to go to his restaurant. But looking at the menu, I wasn't too keen.

Think I'm going to book The Square instead, which is Phil Howard's restaurant. His menu looked better to me.

But thought I'd get some opinions here. If anyone has any personal experiences of wither restaurant, I'd be glad to hear them.

Been to The Square once before and going again at the end of this month, would highly recommend it! Food is mind blowing, really amazing!

Ditto. Been to the Square once, and loved it. Not been to the Berkeley.

Been to the Square - the food was stunning. However, it felt a bit 'businessy' in terms of atmosphere, a bit clinical. If you want to try a Phil Howard restaurant, I'd recommend Kitchen W8 instead just of High Street Ken - great food and more of a warm, neighbourhood restaurant feel.

Haven't been to either but in another thread (Great British Menu) a member was raving about The Square and said they got a free bottle of champers and a cake becase they mentioned it was a birthday.

Not been to either of these, but can recommend Le Gavroche. We went there just before Christmas and it was incredible.

Eaten at The Square, it was a ludicrously serious experience.

Yes, Le Gavroche was my first choice but they were fully booked on the evening we wanted to go.

What do you mean by that exactly? "Ludicrously serious" as in good or bad?!?
