When Doctor who does finish for good...
Should the Doctor die? Or should it finish with him travelling off to see the stars like always which would leave the possibility for it's return in another 25 odd years?
Just a thought, obviously I don't want it to end! ![]() But I was just thinking, no one lives forever and it would be interesting to think how the Doctor might actually die for good..... Thoughts? Or is this too depressing to think about?

If I were tasked with ending it, I would loop it back to the start I think.
The whole thing would then be The Doctor caught in one massive Time Loop. A dark twist that somehow fits and would allow for a proper big bad and perhaps make The Doctor himself the cause of all the creatures we see within the universe. On top of that it allows us to have a completely different interpretation of the series. That way, someone could come along and do a reboot if they wished or, since it is timey-whimey, they could spin off something new. |

I don't think a writer/show runner would ever be allowed to kill off such a valuable commodity, there would always be a little hint that he might have survived.
Even if somehow they did push it through it would be far too easy to reverse that at a later date. he's already been seen to absolutely, deffinitely die once already. Not a Who Spoiler but an Avengers one...

I suppose you are right, it can always be brought back!
I just thought it was an interesting thought, how and when he might eventually end forever. |

It's all very speculative.
but I wouldn't want the current instance to end with the death of the principle, eponymous character. How today's Doctor Who ended wouldn't matter much to some future prospective showrunner anyway. They will either choose to continue the existing continuity or do a true re-boot as they see fit. As an example, how about Battlestar Galactica? It is really a true re-boot but acknowledges the original quite nicely. Does it make a difference that the new Star Trek movie (soon to be movies) is a re-boot but manages to fit in with established continuity by existing in a whole new timeline. The best of both worlds to me.

Whenever it's cancelled (or not renewed) again, I think the door should definitely be left open as it was before. Wasted opportunity otherwise. After all, what other show has a premise that allows such freedom to replace the principal actor and the other characters as if nothing were amiss?

If "Doctor Who" ever does end, I think it should have an open end. While the show is done, the fans can think about adventures that will go unseen.
For me, the best ending would be the thirteenth Doctor regenerating, with the episode ending mid-regeneration. |

If they were going to do it. The last seen would have to be an explosive regeneration scene....left unrevealed

I don't want it to ever end! If it came to a 'hiatus' as in the 80's - I think they should leave it open-ended....just have the current Doctor of the time looking round and entering the Tardis (like at the end of Voyage of the Damned), not knowing where he's going to end up next!

I think the last ever episode should just see him depart with a grin a la Tom Baker to continue on his travels until the end! Why do we have to see him die for the programme to end?

I'd have him land in 1963 (or whenever episode 1 was set) and regenerate into William Hartnell.
