For Doctor Who Adventures Magazine, Dan Starkey answers some of the children's questions in character as Strax. Here we find out what he would do if you called him potato head, why he is so short, what he would do if he met a weeping angel, and his impressions of other Sontarans.

Watch, or Strax will set his laser monkeys on you!

this was a great event. I was lucky enough to be there with my daughter and have our photos taken with Strax. Kudos for her in the playground having met a real live Sontaran!!!

Strax is great fun.
Pooey to all those who say he makes a mockery of the glorious Sontaran race. He is but one Sontaran, and the only one who's ever really stopped for a chat. Perhaps all Sontarans are this funny when they aren't issuing threats and stomping around angrily.
"I hope someday to meet you in glory of battle where I will crush the life from your worthless human form. Now try to get some rest..."

I think this guy is great. I'm not sure why some people feel there should be a po-faced reverence for the Sontarans. They have always been amusingly pompous, and it was pretty inspired of Steven Moffatt to recognize the humour inherent in them.

Absolutely love Strax!

Strax: Madame Vastra wondered if you were needing any grenades?
Doctor: Grenades?
Strax: ......................She might have said help.

I don't think it's po-faced reverence just because you don't want to see a much loved and fearsome warrior race turned into comic relief.

If these miniature imbeciles were a completely different race I'd have no problem with them. Strax is a really fun character and I enjoy his scenes but he's not a Sontaran in my eyes. He's not part of one of the few races to have their own time travel technology and to have invaded Gallifrey. The new Sontaran makes a mockery of the creatures I remember and I think that's a shame.

Absolutely. Strax is ONE Sontaran. The humour comes from him being put in an alien environment and STILL behaving in the way a member of such a warrior race would. As long as it doesn't become self conscious, it's hilarious. Those who say it detracts from the whole race (i.e, those who take the show too seriously in the first place) are just using it as just another Moffat bashing exercise.

The Sontarans have detracted from the whole race ever since they were introduced into Nu Who. Nothing to do with Strax or Moffat as far as I'm concerned.
