Is this present day Coal Hill school or original time Coal Hill school? If the first then who are those two teachers mentioned in SJA at Cambridge who never aged, unless Ian also moonlights as a school governor, or if original time, was Ian a school governor then...did the UK have school governors then?

That's brilliant news. I'm so pleased that we are revisiting Coal Hill School - where it all began...

Without wanting to be Mr Pessimist, just because Ian's name appears on the sign doesn't mean we're actually going to see him. It could just be a fan pleasing easter-egg.

It's nothing whatsoever to do with that - it finished filming ages ago.

The return of Ian Chesterton really is my one big want for the Anniversary, far more so than returning Doctors, which I was always ambivalent about. It did feel like something that needed to happen before it can no longer happen, and it would be such a waste not to because William Russell still has an amazing voice.

Got some hope now.

Are we sure this isn't to do with the 'other' programme?

See post 38 - that wrapped ages ago.

I was wondering that, then I noticed Ian was listed as Chairman of Governer's on the school sign, which he wasn't in the 60s.

Also, Muttley has provided a link above showing that filming has finished for the docudrama.

I really hope Ian's in the 50th. Out of all the Classic Companions, he's the one I've wanted to see the most.

Mine was Susan, but this would be close enough. Anything to link the anniversary to the very start of the programme.

Even if Ian does not return it looks like we have our link so I'm very happy.

Ian has to actually be in it for it to work for me. After all, we already had Coal Hill School in Remebrance of the Daleks.

Worth noting that, because of that drama, there is a full working replica of the first doctor's console room going spare, should Mr Moffat wish to include such thing in the 50th . . . .

Agreed, William Russell would be a great inclusion. I'd argue him and Carole Ann Ford must be included in the episode for it to be a true celebration. I'm disappointed by the lack of former Doctors but if the episode celebrates the Unearthly Child then that would certainly ease some of that disappointment.

Definitely a step in the right direction though.

Chestertonmania! He might do his little dance to "John Smith and the Normal Men" for you.

Just found out that William Russell's son, Alfred Enoch, played one of Harry Potters friends (Dean Thomas) right through the series of movies! Something new every day!
