Sorry if there is a thread on this already, but an article of Den of Geek has caught my scrupulous attention.

http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-w...-7-full-circle

It says that the episode will have a "post library River." This throws up interesting questions on how she survived it, plus I always assumed we'd meet a pre library River as she knew the Doctor's name before.

I'm going to be a bit disappointed if the Library isn't her end - unless it's explained in a satisfying way, it would seem to undermine her whole arc.

But you might wanna change your title, some might see it as a spoiler.

I wonder if they (whoever leads the Doctor to Trenzalore) access the River stored in the library (without taking her out of it completely) because she knows the Doctor's name, I doubt Moffat would try to undo her death.

I always thought and continue to think that Rivers ultimate end should be sacred as its where it all began/ended and to revise it would rob that ending of its power. However. It is Moffats story to tell and if he can do it justice I will await it with interest. I just hope he doesn't ruin it. The River Song story arc started so brilliantly and for me at least has gradually lost its way. We shall see.

I suppose it could be argued that with all we know now the ultimate fate in the library is somewhat cruel considering Rivers nature. Would she really be happy existing in what amounts to a dream world with a country house and gardens and two kids to look after? Maybe CAL had the power to generate more than that and River could still go galavanting around but yeah...not a great existence if you think about it too much.

But if River's saved from the Library properly, doesn't it undo/undermine her storyline in general?

River's consciousness downloaded from the Library computer, using the same (or similar) technology as the people who were re-downloaded back to their bodies after being captured by the spoon heads.

If River's body is damaged then downloaded into a replacement made of "Flesh".

Nuh, To think that someone with Rivers personality would be satisfied to sit in a computer the rest of her life and not make an attempt to resurrect her self would undermine her character. Or to think that the Doctors who plan was just to download her into a computer kind of undermines him as a character.

And the fact that we had an episode where Clara was downloaded into a computer and recovered along with lots of other people..

It doesn't undo anything. All we've seen so far is pre-Library River - same as she ever was.

I could believe the Great Intelligence would try to download her from the library to use her knowledge and manipulate her, and the Doctor ends up knowing that if he stops the Great Intelligence he ends River's virtual life as well.

Ugh that's gotta be it, it's so cruel and evil and so moffat like, he has to destroy his wife, even tho virtual, her mind, in a way to stop the GI .. Man I hope it's not true but it seems that could work.

It's a nifty idea. And it makes as much sense as Clara being a starship entertainment officer trapped in a Dalek or a Victorian governess.

I really hope not. Then we'll have - yet again - another companion linked to River.

And why is that a bad thing? Surely it links the current mythology.

It will be interesting to see what happens next with them. Don't know how it will affect the continuity of the storylines. Looking forward to seeing her again. Maybe she does deserve a better fate then the library. She could live a "normal" life and die of old age the way humans are suppose to. She could then have a proper burial or cremation .Meaning her soul can then find Amy and Rory in heaven a family finally reunited for good. Best gift 11 could give her. If 11 really loves her he should either prove it by fighting for her or let her go. Tell her to find somone who can love her full time and give her the things he can't.

But she is a human/timelady hybrid, she could live for hundreds or thousands of years.
She stopped the universe and died out of love for the Doctor. I don't think she could or should just walk away from him

It just seems to be an annoying theme with Doctor Who. In the RTD era, everything was linked to Rose - Bad Wolf, Torchwood, mentions during Martha's time, Rose coming back in series four.

I didn't actually mind that much because Rose was a likeable enough character.

Moffat's era has the reoccurring theme of River, the most annoying part being we've already seen how she goes so we can't look forward to closure.

Not to mention the character of River is extremely annoying and the whole 'married' thing is irritating.

Clara is amazing, in my opinion, and if she links back to River, that's my hope for Moffat shattered. It's so refreshing having a new companion with no baggage (with previous links to other characters, I mean) and I really, really hope Moffat doesn't ruin it.

In what reality was this? I'm sure not the one that I live in.

Oh. Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead are the only two episodes with River in that I've enjoyed. If it turns out that's not the end of her, then even those episodes will lose some poignancy for me.

Shame.
