Just caught up.. that Topaz drama was quite something..

So to recap, Topaz accidently voted for Jillian instead of Gary, thus pushing a Gary 4-3 win into a Jillian 4-3 win.

I don't see how it could have been changed, though it was clearly a mistake on Topaz's part she had by the point of wanting to change seen things that a yet to vote jury member should not see in the form of whats been going on all season.. so changing it wouldn't be fair. Hope this is a reminder to all future jury members, i'm sure production in both Canada and the US will drill what happened here into the heads of all future juries. I'm still in shock Maybe the future juries should have to physically write their choices on a piece of paper in future like on Survivor?

I am not sure, she locked in her vote and the host went over the voting rules so no it should not be changed. But the fact is Gary will be known as the true winner of the season because I do think Topaz wanted and thought she was voting for him to win.

I just feel bad for Jillian, Gary and Topaz. Jillian knows she only won because Topaz messed up, Gary knows he should be the winner and poor Topaz just had a brain freeze.

It was definitely handled the right way, though it's just an unfortunate situation for all involved. As much as it sucks, Topaz made the mistake and she has to live with that. As unfair as it is for Gary to have his win snatched away from him, (he handled amazingly well to be fair!) they can't just let a juror change her vote because she realised the result wasn't going the way she wanted it to, even if it was a massive mistake on her part that caused the decision. I do feel very bad for Topaz because she was one of the more likable players this year, but really it is her own fault and she should have taken more care.

I would say that in the future they should try to make it more obvious to players how they are voting, but to be honest, I don't see what they possibly could have done to make it more obvious to her.

I guess it also sucks in a way for Jillian, as she now knows she isn't really supposed to be the winner of the season and she'll forever have to be known as the winner with an * next to her name, but at the same time, I'm pretty sure she'll console herself with the prizes that she's going home with, whether she was meant to have them or not!

Yeah, it was too little too late for Topaz. Rules are rules..

In most instances when someone votes incorrectly in something, that's the vote that counts and there's no reason they should redo the whole process just for one person's stupidity.
It's no-one else's fault that Topaz is dumb and doesn't understand rules properly so her vote was for Jillian and no amount of back-tracking changes that.

I guess this mistake has negated the awful twist that put Gary back in the game after being voted out. lol

I think it was handled correctly. They showed the footage, it was made very clear it was supposed to be for who you want to win.

Assuming nobody could lift it out and change it then it was done right. The host actually seemed to handle it quite well. And it was nice to have an unscripted surprise. The camerawork was shoddy though, not that many reaction shots (none of Jillian).

It looked like Topaz just picked it up and put it straight it without really looking, maybe the excitement got to her.

Well they handled it correctly but it wasnīt live so they could have had a revote. That would have been much better for the show than a winner who didnīt really win it. It was a farce. But yeah it was Topaz own fault ... how stupid can you be.

Just caught up, I was slumped in my chair thinking Gary was going to win (I wanted Emmett or Jillian to win), then all of a sudden Gary's '150% secure' vote, votes the other way!

Was so dramatic the way Topaz leapt up, shouting and waving her arms, Emmett punching the air in the background was great too.

I thought Arisa handled it really well (apart from turning her back on the camera, but I'll forgive that), there didn't seem to be any hesitation from her in what must have been a strange situation, I doubt they could have rehearsed that!

Hope Arisa is back again next season.

Production did all they could, the rules are explained to the jury and all votes are final.

Yeah it was handled correctly. I think Topaz did the whole thing purposely for attention. Poor Gary.

I wonder what idiot came up with this theory coz i read that everywhere. Thats just ridiculous. Why would she not vote for Gary and make a fool out of herself in front of the entire country.

1) It creates notoriety for herself and increases the chances of her being in an Allstar season

2) It allows her to vote for Jillian without looking duplicitous and screwing over the fan favourite.

3) It creates buzz about the show and has people talking for season 2.

oh come on ppl are you serious? You can always find reasons to make everything look like a conspiracy but thats just stupid. I am sure Topaz didnīt do that on purpose and i donīt even like her.

I don't think she did it on purpose either, but wouldn't be too shocked if I was proven wrong.

The only slightly viable suggestion I've heard is that she thought the votes were secret and wouldn't be revealed, if she thought that then she was very stupid.

Much more likely though as I said she just put it in very quickly without checking whether she had picked up the right one or not.

There are always ulterior motives according to the forums.

It was a mistake, we all make them.

The host's archly surprised expression at reading that she had voted for Jillian did seem to set her off.

She couldnīt see her face.

I think what happend was Topaz was only focused on the camera and on her 150% line that she didnīt pay attention to the keys name. She said she was half blind without her contacts too?! Well it was one of the dumbest things i have ever seen on BB and i still canīt belive this actually happend.

I didnīt like Gary or Jill but if that happend to my fav player i would be raging now.

That's exactly what happened, IMO. She was thinking of Jill and her 150% promise and absent-mindedly picked up Jill's name. I do things like that all the time. Topaz adored Gary and detested Jill for her betraying her ergo the conspiracy theory is just ridiculous.

I didn't like Topaz but I feel really sorry for her. Pleased for Jill though and I reckon Gary will make a few quid on the back of BB.

Whilst there wasn't time to revote anyway,I'm so glad production didn't give in and let her recast the vote.
Lesson learned for Topaz there .. pay attention to what you're supposed to be doing,it may be important
From a personal point of view I'm glad Jillian won,Gary being returned to the house at final 4 with jury knowledge wasn't fair on the rest of the house.
Emmett should never have taken Gary over Talla, taking the strong competition player and Canada's favourite over the weak comp player who everyone agreed had done nothing in the house was dopey to say the least.
He'd have been counting cash today, instead he's collected the crown of nearly there and nothing to show for it.

Topaz made a mistake and it shocked the hell out of me.. Still pretty sad about it to be honest.. I shouldn't be so into a show but I really liked Topaz and Gary... That was so sad

I mean expression in her voice and not face. It was like she was saying 'well she's not much of a friend is she?'. Though as I keep saying I think her not concentrating on the key was the likely problem, though she took time putting her hand up.

'Anyone but Jillian' A Plot Foiled

The final voting gong show during the Big Brother Canada finale may have been the talk around the water cooler today, but the more interesting story lies in the reason for the votes Gary Levy did receive and the foiled plot against the eventual winner.

Alec and Peter were both sent packing by the hand of the HOH queen Jillian Maclaughlin. Both of them considered themselves the masterminds of the game and far superior to the other houseguests.

Peter and Alec were a little annoyed that they were not able to mind control everyone into keeping them in the house until the end and decided that they would get their revenge on the person that sent them packing.
