Steve John Shepherd who plays Micheal Moon in Eastenders. He does a good eccentric charachter and has something about him which I think would carry off the Dr really well ... What do you all think and if you disagree who would your shout be?

It's definitely one of the better choices I've seen around here and other places.

I would choose Steve's Plus One co-star Daniel Mays. (But not Duncan from Blue.)

I may be wrong here, but wasn't Steve John Shepard in This Life years ago?
Might be an interesting choice.
I still want Jonny Lee Miller as the next Doctor, however unlikely it may be.

Benedict Cumberbatch as he has been my perfect idea for the next doc ever since I saw the first ep of Sherlock

I'd quite like to see James Callis given ago - he was Baltar in the remake of Battlestar Galactica. Tom Hiddleston (Loki in the Thor/Avengers movie) would also be great.

God no.

Cumberbatch is alright but ridiculously overrated.

Actually 12 but that might have changed by now considering the popularity of the show

I'm not sure what the regeneration limit is, but he's only regenerated 10 times so far. The Second Doctor was the result of the first regeneration, etc, Matt Smith is 11, but the tenth regeneration.

No, 12 regenerations gives him 13 bodies, so in theory when the next Doctor regenerates it will be his last.

They could get around it by explaining that with the Time Lords gone, the limit no longer applies (since it was the Time Lord High Council who imposed the limit). But we won't know until it happens or is otherwise mentioned.

There is a lot of ways around it maybe in the Time War the Time Lords gave them unlimited regenerations as it would give them a better chance of winning

Its never been stated that it was a limit imposed by the high council and given the state of the Master at the end of his regenerative cycle I`d say it was a biological limit.
Plus if it was imposed by the high council, Borusa could have just given himself infinite incarnations instead of faffing about lifting the doctor out of his time streams

And after watching A Young Doctor's Notebook I think John Hamm would be an excellent Doctor

As I said in the other thread it will be Adrian Lester; BBC, 50th anniversary, inclusivity, multiculturalism, modern Dr Who, modern Britain, nailed on.

He'd probably regenerate within his first episode then
