Wings in Glee!
Next week there's the final episode of fourth season of Glee. One of the songs, according to Amazon, that will be sung by New Direction is Wings by Little Mix. How exicitng is that?

That's awesome. Whoever is managing them is doing a great job at the moment with both American Idol and Glee.

Yeah I'm grateful as a fan.
I don't think will have a impact. Maybe it's going the sales from dropping completely. Especially since they're USA radio airplay is losing audience. |

Well they do kinda need this promo, good for them that they have landed it. Wings doesn't seem like it has gained enough traction to make any real impact on the US charts, it is stalling on US radio currently, and it has barely made the Hot 100.
I'm not sure when they went over there, but I know they've been there for a while now so it's not looking that great. That being said, they could still see a boost in popularity strong enough to change things, but it's looking more and more unlikely. Their US debut feels a bit rushed to me as an onlooker, their management should have had them spend more time doing performances first before throwing the single out there. While it hasn't been a failure, it hasn't done as well as I expected it to do. But their name is out there now at least, and maybe they could do better with the 2nd album. I would be concerned about how the album is going to do though. Olly Murs didn't sell very well at all off the back of a huge radio hit in Troublemaker, but Wings has had nowhere near that kind of impact on the radio or the charts. |

They only have spent 3 weeks there which is a bit meh because for a new artist this is not long enough. They are going back there for one more week before the album drops and another day to Perform for GMA. So it seems like they haven't spent that much time there to build a fan base. But Wings is not going anywhere it seems only if something put of the blue happens.
Edit: On the topic. I want to see how Glee does because I love their covers |

Have they actually done any tv promo yet? As the album is out in a few weeks, so perhaps they plan on doing a tv promo blitz performing Wings everywhere, which will promote that aswell as the album.

I just think that however rushed it seems it's part of the landscape nowdays ..the UK market is more fickle and huge sales of albums belong to the few..the global market in music is becoming more important ..if they can sell more singles and albums in other countries with little promo it will help secure their future

They went to America for 3 weeks for a radio tour. No TV appearances or anything, just radio and fan events.
I don't see Glee making a huge impact tbh. 3 weeks really isn't enough to throw weight behind the song, so now I guess the single not doing that great makes a little more sense, I'm quite surprised that they've spent so little time out there. Apart from this Glee and AI which is great promo for them, there doesn't seem to be much buzz around the song, it could have been avoided had they spent longer out there, I don't think they should have bothered with a 3rd UK single if I'm honest, America is more important for their longevity as a band. |

You are right there, I don't think X Factor artists in particular can really survive long-term in just the UK alone. Look at JLS, they failed in the US, and it was a downward spiral from there, so I guess LM have done the right thing by striking while the iron is hot. I just think it could have been executed better than this.
Lets be honest America/Simon Cowell could make a better version of LM that the Americans would prefer its down to them to work hard and get the Americans to like them show them they are special. As for Cher. She has spent most of her time over there since She was on the show, so it was easier for them to market her over there. And i think its easier for a solo act then a group. Guess 1D are the exception tbh. |

Pretty much. Problem is its not just them its alot of our acts. The US sees them as samey samey. LM have to prove that they are not jsut another GA/Saturdays and why they are special.

its ok, but their 1st TV performance will be in June, after the album release.. o_O
they NEED a performace + a radio tour.. the song is about to peak on radio. The thing is, they should have waited till the DNA era was already over in the UK .Thats why it worked for Cher! She spent like more than 3 months JUST on radio tour and also had some TV performances b4 the album.. like America's Got Talent and Today Show. |

Wings was performed on American Idol as well, but it didn't do much for them. I guess Wings isn't made for the US
They should've gone for DNA |

I am intrigued by how glee do it. I agree that their promo is too rushed but I blame the managers, they're not working closely enough with the label, Columbia are doing a great job and have got them some good promo slots. The fans have done their bit too and have got them a lot of attention from radio stations and magazines too, its up to the managers to do something. Little mix should be spending the whole summer in the USA promoting DNA album and recording the second album with American producers but instead are doing summer festivals here. I don't get why the managers did that. I don't think it will do much to boost album sales as a lot of people will have made their minds up on the girls. I think the girls should give wings one last push and then maybe move on to Hyd in America and use that to get people who like r & b interested so then if they make the more grown up r and b album I am hoping for, they will have people interested and can do a proper launch of the second album.
