My local Tesco does Pizza Express pizzas and their Finest ones (which IMO are much nicer than Pizza Hut Pizza)

Can't believe you think pizza hut's pizzas are a quality product or somehow authentic.
"Authentic" Italian pizza is actually horribly bland from crust, to sauce, to simply using one bland cheese, mozzarella. By far the best pizza in the world comes out of New York. "Authentic" doesn't necessarily mean the best. |

Why, because it's a chain it can't be "quality?"

I make my own dough. It is easy. Then just go to the market for the toppings and save money.
I don't see what is funny about it. Plenty of people make their own pizza. Why waste money on frippery? |

![]() It was small with hardly any cheese and sauce and over priced, even with it being on offer. No idea why people go on about Pizza Express supermarket pizzas. |

Well I decided to get off my lazy arse and go out shopping instead. I bought breaded chicken pieces , mayo, tomatoes, hash browns, Cumberland sausages, bread rolls, and a small pizza for all under a tenner!!! Less a crappy delivered one!

Bloody hell! Where do you shop? That's cheap!!
Sounds like a pretty normal amount to me. Maybe you are getting ripped off?

I prefer homemade myself. If you use ready-made bases it takes five minutes to chop the ingedients and 15 minutes to grill, so doesn't take any longer than waiting for it to be cooked in a fast food restuarant, plus you get to cook it how you want it to be cooked - I always find fast food pizzas (including Pizza Hut and other, ahem, "quality" outlets) get really soggy and undercooked in the middle, and they don't put enough of the ingredients on it and then fill the gaps up with too much cheese, which is usually crap cheese too.
Also, reading this thread = no wonder Britain is so fat. |

the pizzas in our place are all freshly made, for large it is like 7.70 for a margarhita up to 15.00. more expensive than any supermarket ones but then the supermarket ones are shit in comparison so u get what you pay for and we have plently of ppl saying they are the best pizzas they have ever had.

I've never cooked the bases but I now and then buy the ready made bases and make my own from there. Lovely!

There is only one Church in Newcraighall, just at the roundabout where Boots is. It is called the Church Arts Centre and Santino's is the big red converted caravan just at the side. You will not be disapointed! Please remember that as this stuff tastes so good at such cheap prices he is pretty popular & can get busy at times, especially around lunchtime. It is WELL worth the wait! I just stay around the corner from this place & have to visit 4/5 times a week!

There are cheats to make the time quicker. Some people make the sauce and bases ahead of time and freeze them.
Others use the bread maker and the slow cooker for the sauce. |

The best pizza in the world is not in Italy? Rubbish.
Like I said, just because something originates somewhere doesn't mean the best of it comes from there. |

I like Pizza Huts deep pans more than any other, but would only fork out for one 3 or 4 times a year tops and only with the vouchers. If you look around there's decent pizzas for 11 or 12 quid or £20 including two other meals and a drink.
Even so, all takeaway ones are still expensive when you have a set food budget each weekand that's 1/3 of it. |

I've traveled and eaten pizza all over Italy and like I said, the best pizza is from New York, and the surrounding area. Most Italian pizza is bland, like the original bland recipe, with a poor plain crust, lite flavored sauce and simply mozzarella, one of the most blandest cheeses you could eat.
Like I said, just because something originates somewhere doesn't mean the best of it comes from there. |

I've always been a fan of Sicilian pizza, with the cheese underneath the sauce. The way the cheese melts into the crust is just delicious.

I like Pizza Hut deep pan pizzas and Pizza Express at the restaurant but don't like Dominoes or Papa Johns - both very bland

I used to work in an independent pizza place so now I'm pretty fed up of em and can make them at home etc. They don't taste like Dominoes/Pizza Hut. They just taste better.
While I prefer fresh dough, if there's any left over it can frozen for whenever. A bag of flour, some dried yeast which is like 20p, the rest is pretty much cupboard stuff like chopped tomatoes, herbs etc. |

I'm not surprised pizza in New York is good - when the first migrants from Italy went over there, they'd have taken their knowledge of cooking with them, and added distinctly American twists to the recipes. That's how food gets better, in my opinion
