Never seen this remake but am a big fan of the 1976 original so will give it a go. Some IMDB reviews say the deaths are good.

Pretty sure this was one of the few films I turned off after 10 minutes because it was so shite.

Gets average 5.4 on IMDB but it's my type of film and as it's not costing me I'll give it a go. Can always turn it off. Is the head decapitation scene in it?

I thought it was surprisingly good when I saw it at the movies. Give it a chance.

Or am I confusing it with another, less crap, movie?

I can't remember. They all blur into one another... :P

It's beyond crap. Another John Moore (of Die Hard 5) failure. The fact they go out and make Damien creepy / scary, was a big fail. Nothing else of note to recommend watching this film. Put the original on if you have it.

Say what you will about the remake, but Liev Schreiber is yummy in this.

I rented this a while ago, it was okay but the original was best...a good effort I should add.

Yeah the original is superior but the remakes not bad at all.

It was swill. The beauty of The Omen, other than everything else, was the innocence of the young actor playing Damien. He didn't know he was in a horror movie so his innocence and smiling face added to the creepiness of it.

At the end scene when Damien turns round and smiles, the director had told him "If you smile I wont be your friend" using reverse psychology to get him to smile.

The actor playing the new Damien knew he was in a horror movie. Hence why he isn't in any way memorable.

Yes, the original and the remake are very different.

Though indebted to a previous big hit (The Exorcist), Omen '76 had enough new tricks of its own to stand tall. A smart, progressive narrative and slick, moody handling meant its success was well earned. In short, it showed a lot of what is actually right about studio thinking.

Sadly, the remake turned out to be a dismal, pointless, join-the-dots affair. It typifies so much that is often wrong with current studio thinking.
