Which do you prefer? i think i'd go with White wine, it always seems more lighter and more refreshing to Red which can be a bit overpowering i find.

Depends on the wine but these days I drink more white than red. It's just a bit lighter and not as intense. Problem is that a bottle can go down quite quickly.

Your right there and when you consider a 13% bottle of wine is equal to over 4 pints of 4% beer it is worrying. Shop beside us are selling Gallo, Blossom Hill and Echo Falls 3 for £10. Hic.

Mainy white but sometimes red. Red can give me a bit of a headache and strange dreams sometimes

I prefer red, although it gives me bad acid, so I drink white more often.

Dry white or a light Rose. I actually prefer Prosecco though.

Red. You can't beat a good Merlot. And as much as it goes against convention I do like it slightly chilled.

I heard something on the radio the other day about red wine. Apparently the thing about red being room temperature is something that was introduced many many years ago. Now experts agree that red wine should be slightly chilled to taste its best.

I like all wine, but as someone above said, I tend to drink white / rose in the spring and summer. But nothing beats a good heavy red wine in the winter months in front of an open fire.

This is true, about red wine. Room temperatures years ago were a lot lower than they are now. These days rooms are heated to around about 20+ celsius which is actually slightly too warm for getting the optimum flavour from red wine.

Personally I tend to be more of a white wine drinker these days - either a Viognier or Sauvignon Blanc. I do like a red from time to time, usually a Malbec or a Shiraz. But white is definitely more my thing on a regular basis.

White. A nice chilled sauvignon blanc is heaven. I only tend to drink red in a restaurant as I'm clueless as the different types. Think I need to start trying more at home, any excuse to have wine

Prefer red but I try to stick to white on "school nights" as it doesn't have the morning-after effects that red does.

Also like a nice rose on a hot summer's day.

I like both but I prefer red slightly. I do go through phases when I'll drink more of one than the other and back and forth!

It's ridiculous to categorise wine as white and red, as if they were polar opposites. If you're talking about cheap, nasty wines such as Gallo, Blossom Hill and Echo Falls, etc, then the white is likely to be less nasty than the red.
I only used to drink red at one time but now I drink white almost exclusively. I neither can afford nor have the inclination to spend 12 quid a bottle, but when it's on offer at around a fiver, I never miss out on the chance to grab a few bottles of Chileno Sauvignon Blanc. It tastes so good to me that I really have no desire to experiment with anything more expensive.

Generally red, but rose on a hot summer evening. Whilst price isn't the over riding factor, you (well, I) can tell the difference in quality between a £5, £10 and a £20 pound bottle but once you go much above that the extra quality is not always there and not usually worth it to me. I did once taste an £800 bottle of Chateau Y'Qem and I realised why people will pay that much for a wine because it was the most superb thing I'd ever tasted and I could have spent hours drinking in the smell and taste. Unfortunately we only got about a 1/4 glass of it

However, I'll never criticise anyone for wanting to drink other wines, even a Blue Nun Liebfraumilch or Black Tower has its place and if someone likes it, then who am I to criticise?
