The Crimson Horror has, in my opinion, raised the bar significantly!

Just saying.

I have to agree, that's going to rank in my top 10 of Nu-Who. Can't believe DS gave it 2 stars!

Agreed, that was more like it! Diana Rigg was fantastic as the villain, Mrs Gillyflower was wonderfully evil. Rachael Stirling was fabulous too, Ada is now one of my favourite guest characters.

I agree with the thread title. Nuff said.

fantastic episode, funny too with straxx, only "fainting" gentleman getting a minus point .....

More of a childrens episode I thought . I find Strax is getting annoying (especially with all those little videos he's in nowadays) and the 'humorous' moments made me think I was watching Batman from the 1960s.

When they actually gave Jenna-Louise Coleman a chance to do a bit of acting she's absolutely lovely. (And I don't just mean in terms of looks). She had some great dialogue in "Bells of Saint John" but I don't think she's been given enough time to shine since.

Yes the first truly outstanding episode of this run!

After hearing mixed reviews, mostly poor, for this episode I was slightly apprehensive. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really enjoyed Rachel Stirling as Ada, as well as Mrs.Gillyflower! My only quibble would be that it wasnt creepy or scary. It had the potential to be very scary but went down the fun romp route.

"Excellent" implies the very best something can be, which wasn't that episode.

But it was quite good, mostly because the Doctor had someone to bounce off with actual emotional response, namely Jenny. And not to mention that blind woman, and the old hag. Even his manacles contributed...

Clara was sensibly kept away from proceedings by being preserved in a jar...

Next Week! Clara goes on a club 18-30 holiday to Spain while the Doctor investigates suspicious activities on the Moon.

I thought it was awful and very boring.

This is the worst series I have ever seen so far in my own humble opinion.

At least men randomly passing out won't feel so out of place.

They've all been great this year.

Some people are just getting too old for this show if they're complaining. It's for kids, it'll always be for kids, lighten the hell up and enjoy it on that level.

It's a family show, not a kid's show. There is a difference.

And I don't see how that was a kid's episode, but each to their own I suppose.

It was very light, I'll grant you but I felt that really worked in it's favour. The word romp has been bandied around about a few of the series 7 episodes with none of them actually having much rompish about them. This however was an utter romp and I loved every second, The pace was electric, it was camp as hell (perfect for something with a gothic horror flavour) and all the guest characters felt like they had the perfect balance of screen time without feeling tacked on or underused. I just can't fault it at all.

Loved it, the sort of fun, camp, but not too silly to grate, uncomplicated action adventure romp that I miss the RTD era for.

Probably the best episode of series 7! Or at least up there with "Asylum of the Daleks".

It was good, but that seems to be the most that this half of the series has been. I don't think there's really been anything outstanding for this half of the series, but I'm really looking forward to the next episode.
