I'm kinda hoping for no cliffhanger, solely because I would prefer the 50th to be accessible to people who may not have seen the series. As a stand alone "50th Special" it might attract new viewers who might realise what they have been missing and become new fans.

People who have not seen the series would have not seen the cliffhanger either, so it makes no difference to them. A cliffhanger doesn't make the 50th less accessible, it only provides fans with something to ponder over which is good otherwise we'll have nothing to discuss for 6 months.

But if it was just a cliffhanger to lead in it wouldn't matter anyway if new viewers had seen the previous episode plus it would be recapped in the first few seconds of the 50th anyway

I think they that "The Name of the Doctor" would lead into the 50th.

Yeah, I think Jenna-Louise Coleman confirmed it.

Plus the bit of of the preview epesodes have been removed which suggests a cliffhanger. Hopefully they won't actually revel his name or backstory but you never can tell. Least they've finally stopped doing the bloody doctor who joke

It's not doctor who, as in what is his name, but who he is, as a person, knowing his name won't spoil that.

Exactly. The only people who ask it don't know he's a Time Lord. Knowing his name wouldn't make them any the wiser.

Yep, so these people claiming that revealing his name would ruin dr who forever, are really not getting the point

It's not that we are missing the point. It's the fact it will take away the mystery and whatever the name will underwhelming

If Moffat's involved then I doubt it will get resolved at all.

I'm quite sure his name wont be revealed at all. It's just going to be a teaser! Let's face it - what would they call the next series? :"Doctor Theta Sigma" / "Doctor John Smith" / "Doctor Peter Cushing" etc.....??

See. You just show that you are missing the point with what you just said. The mystery is who he is, not his name.
