He sort of has met Sherlock. This is a fan-made clip, put together over twelve months ago:

I've got the link to this, saved in my Favourites list it's so good! In fact the whole clip is really believable. Like Matt Smith's Doctor has met him at some point.

And already pointed to in this very thread only a few posts before yours!

You're welcome!

(I used to have this CD - picked it up for pennies when the newspaper I worked for sold off all the promo copies of things they'd been given in the previous year. Then one of the online CD-sellers offered me a quite outrageous price and I jumped at it.)

I forgive them the continuity error with Watson's jacket at the end!

Not forgetting the cars running backwards at the 01.40s mark lol.

Never noticed that before! Thanks for pointing this out...

Also Dave-H, I didn't see any problem with Martin's jacket. It looked fine to me.

Look again (the problem isn't the jacket as such but what he's wearing under it.)

I'm sure such an idea would be great for a charity special.

In the main show though...never. Aside from the fact that such crossovers are horrendously tacky and a sign of jumping the shark a little, it also goes by the presumption that all Doctor Who fans also like Sherlock.

For the record, I don't like Sherlock. I think the acting is fine enough, but I'm not keen on the way it's done. Same can be said for the Downey Jr. films, which though a bit more to my liking, are too action-oriented for me - I enjoy action, but that's just not what Sherlock is to me.

More to the point, when he sees through the window that Sherlock has disappeared inside the TARDIS, he runs down to the street from the flat.
When he goes down the stairs inside he's not wearing a jacket, but when he comes out of the front door to the street, he is.
He wouldn't have had time to put in on, and he obviously wouldn't have stopped to do so anyway in the circumstances!
