Heinz Baked Beans really are the Best

I've been comparing Baked Beans and buying tons of different brands and comparing the ingredients. Almost all different brands were less nutritious in other ways. For instance, most other brands had half the tomatoe content of Heinz. Heinz has 34% Tomatoes. Waitrose own brand is only 20%, Whole Earth Organic 13%, Tesco 20%.

The only brands that come close are Sainsburys at 33% and Branston which is actually higher at 37%. However Branston comes with 2g more sugar per half can and typically labeled as 400 calories per tin, compared to to 320 calories of Heinz.

Also taste test, all other brands tasted inferior, except Branston which came remarkably close. Infact it's vice versa, but if we are going for healthier, than Heinz is still king.

Also while Branston Beans are £1.30 at Tescos for a 4 pack. Heinz Baked Beans you can get 8 pack (2x4) at Iceland for £3. Is the extra 40p worth it to get Heinz? I think so.

Heinz beans are very watery. I prefer Branston. The sauce is thicker.

Sainsburys are on my list to sample next, I havn't gotten to them yet. Probaly try some next week and do a taste test to compare. It will be the standard range, not the basics.

I agree the sauce is more flavoursome and it's thicker as well but it's also more sugary. I took into account health benefits as well as taste, which is why I scored Heinz slightly higher, taste isn't everything.

Heinz are the definitive baked beans for me, and the default brand I buy, but I do like a little change sometimes.

I've bought Branston, M&S own brand, and Lidl 'Campo Largo' in the past, and enjoyed them.

I could easily tell the difference. Told the difference last week when I was at my mum's and she'd made me beans on toast with a (undisclosed) different brand.

I can't see why anyone needs to 'justify' anything. I'm not going to buy something cheaper just because it's cheaper.

Because Value beans are not that great, the same with Sainsburys basic beans. they are ok if that is all you can afford.

It is personal opinion to what is best. i not that fussy about Heinz to be honest, but then again I gone off a lot of Heinz stuff anyway.

Branston I think is far better and Sainsburys own is ok as well. i tried some Co-op ones a couple of weeks ago, never again.

I like Branstons beans as well. Heinz are OK too, but in my opinion even the cheapest of cheap can of beans if heated with some butter, a little salt & lots of pepper taste great!

The way I see it, Tesco value beans still count as a veg intake, and I can't see much of a quality gap between it and Heinz, so for 7p per half can serving, I would never buy Heinz at 70p!

My local Tesco convenience store is selling tins of Everyday Value Baked Beans for 14p which is a special offer I assume. They sell another Tesco value range beans for 40p, and of course Heinz is selling at 70p (all the same tin sizes). When i noticed such a massive disparity between the prices, I couldn't help buy buy five tins at a total cost of the price of one tin of Heinz
