I like Morrisons baked beans. The sauce isn't too salty or sweet and the price is quite decent.

From the comments above, I'm going to try out some Branston baked beans the next time I'm at the supermarket.

I have to say that I've been getting Branston beans the last few years as there are so many great offers on them and I think they are as good as Heinz beans.

One of my friends thinks they are disgusting though, but I just think his a bean snob!

It is a bit ridiculous, but people like what they like I suppose.

I only buy Branston beans, a four-pack of which is fairly regularly on offer for £1 in Lidl or other supermarkets.

I find Heinz watery, weak-tasting and far too sweet. The beans seem more mushy than Branston.

I've also tried HP beans, but they're also watery, weak and have an aftertaste I don't like.

I'm not fond of Heinz soups or other products really. Even their normal ketchup doesn't taste as nice to me as Morrisons or Branston's, though the Heinz organic ketchup tasted very nice when it first came out. I think they changed the recipe since so that it includes less real tomato, but I'm sure it's still a lot nicer than their normal one. It's also a lot more expensive, which is why I sick to Morrisons or Branston.

I wouldn't eat a bean that wasn't Heinz.

Great post, you surpassed my original thoughts and you could pass yourself off as the new bean connoisseur. I would agree with pretty much everything you said, although I still believe Heinz to be marginally more healthy, it's a close race though.

I tend to find that Morrisons own products are not that great. Beans, tomatoe sauce and their tinned soup seems to be tasteless.

I miss Safeway, speaking of which do anyone remember Safeway selling some baked Beans that was British?
they was pretty nice to be honest

Because a 14p tins of beans don't taste the same as the more expensive brands. and while i can afford the more expensive brand i will carry on buying them

Of cause if a 14p tin of beans was as good then I would buy them, anyway Tescos Everyday beans which is what they now call Value is 25p, their own brand is 38p, i think I rather spend the extra and go with their own brand

Sainsburys basic is also 25p, but their own brand is 45p,

I tend to go for either Branston baked beans or essential Waitrose.

The only brands that come close are Sainsburys at 33% and Branston which is actually higher at 37%. However Branston comes with 2g more sugar per half can and typically labeled as 400 calories per tin, compared to to 320 calories of Heinz.
”

Branston everytime for me - especially at 25p a can

2g of sugar isn't worth worrying about - it's equivalent to 0.4 of a UK teaspoon

I have not [bean] been a fan of Heinz baked beans for some years now as they are too sweet~ but yet too bland
~the sauce is also weak tasting and an awful texture~too tasteless watery /wet/ loose/
the beans are way ~too soft
and the beans are nowhere near the top of the tin

For the last few years my favourite has been Branston baked beans

but last night I became a fan of Morrison's baked beans~in a red tin [ x4 pack ]
~yum..
Can filled to the top ~not too sweet ~nice bean texture ~sauce delicious and not sloppy
I have never bought them... until the other day~but I will certainly choose them in future

Tops for me are Heinz but I do buy Branston if they're on offer and they're a close second.

I love cold baked beans.

I'm afraid I'm on the side of those who find Branston beans disgusting. I don't mind eating Heinz if I have to, but my favourite is Aldi's own brand.

You should try. I used to say "Heinz only" but I recently tried some Branston ones and I was an immediate convert.

They are often on half price in Tesco.

A few years back, i used to go to Cwmbran with my parents and we used to go into Aldi and i used to buy a load of their beans and they were nice. We used to get a lot of our shopping there every month as it was cheap and Cwmbran was a nice place to go.

Now we got a Aldi here, i don't bother with it much, I do pass it on the way to work and back.

Seconded. I'm not a bean fan as a rule (can't bear Heinz), but I'll happily scoff through a tin of Branston.

I'm not sure from which year. But Heinz does not taste the same or as good as it used to or as I remember it used to.. Personally I still but Heinz because I think the lack of taste may be due to a reduction in sugar; so I'm assuming its a health thing.

What's disgusting? Eating a full tin or eating them cold?
