That is exactly what is required after last years dreadful series. I know ultimately it's the housemates who make the show and only time will tell in that regard. We just have to hope that the selection process has found a few characters.

Replacing Brian with the lovely Emma is a good first step as far as trying to revamp the show goes. Brian lacks any type of stage presence and he overplayed the camp card. He's certainly no Alan Carr or Graham Norton.

I can't say i'm too happy about Rylan replacing Emma if that news is true. I was led to believe they were hoping to make BBBOTS a more respectable show. I don't see how that can possibly happen with Rylan at the helm. They're simply pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I'm hoping we'll see the back of that silly man in a dress Jeff dress. A hideous and talentless man who offers nothing to the show. I'm also hoping they will be more selective with the studio audience. I'm sick of seeing the same attention seeking bunch. The likes of glasses man and Coco the clown should never be invited back.

Thank you Peter. It's time for a major cleanout. It's time for BB to stop the rot.

I agree - Brian was a terrible host from the start and never found his footing. Watching him was quite unnerving because he was either too nervous or OTT in an awkward way. Emma had balls and even though she was controlled by the top guys, her personality shone through.

I watch this show from the US and found the BBOTS more interesting than Brian's eviction night show.

Many people actually enjoyed last series and because of the tension/hatred in the series, some people enjoyed it. For others it got a bit tiresome near the end and became uncomfortable for some people.

Conor ruined the series for many people.

In any given series you'll find people who really enjoyed it. I think most would agree though that it wasn't a great series and that's probably why we're now seeing BB ringing the changes, starting with Brian.

Say what you want about Conor but he also created headlines. God knows where the show would have been without him. Probably even duller than it was. I am no fan of Conor as a person but at least he gave us something to talk about.

Well we had Caroline and Becky, so there was plenty to talk about. Conor wasn't the ordinary villain though, I have never seen a housemate rile so many people up like he did. He was horrible.

Becky? I had to actually google her there. That's how memorable she was.

Caroline was a complete bitch. Totally stuck up and self centred. She made a decent housmate though. Like Conor, she got us all talking.

Horrible people can also make good housemates. Remember Charlie? A ghastly woman but a terrific housemate.

Conor was just your typical lads lad. A little bit dim and not a nice person but he gave us something to talk about. He made headlines. He wasn't boring.

Yes, but on the other hand, he was also popular. Remember this is a man who survived several evictions.

Conor is not a lads lad at all. Complete manipulator and bullsh*tter,

You would not have had to google Becky if you had watched that series.

Conor was a Maxwell type housemate, one of the lads, likes his beer and football etc. He seemed to be popular with the teenage girls and that tends to be the case with these type of housemates.

I obviously remembered Becky as soon as I googled her. I remember her being quite simple. She was a larger than life character on the first night but she soon became duller than dishwater and a complete arselicker.

I thought Caroline was an good Hm and added to the series. But the overall quality of the Hm was poor.

Well maybe he was laddish but to an extreme most lads avoid. Conor did give talking points and the series would have flopped without the villains last year as the heroes were too boring , fake and played it safe. Conor's main flaw to his dislikers IMO was his obvious dislike of the Queen Deana of whom noone was allowed to dislike or say a bad word. Even without the epilator thing, he would still have been hated because he hated her.
The guy was a tool but things went OTT in here attacking his family and city..When he won the cash it was carnage. eek:

But controversial Hm's even the nastier ones add to the drama of each series. We do love to hate. The thing with Conor is he lacked wit and only his idiotic antics made him interesting. Caroline was witty and a better villain IMo.

I am glad C5 have made changes, Brian never relaxed as a presenter and hopefully Emma will improve things once she does not start pushing showmances.
I am hoping for a better calibre of Hm this year, could not be worse then last years dross.

Very good post.

Completely agree about the show flopping if it wasn't for last years villains. As you rightly point out, the hero's were just so boring. If the villains weren't there they'd probably be sitting around having cosy wee tea parties.

The epilator thing was blown out of proportion. The fact no further action has been taken since supports that. I think people were desperately just trying to find something to hang Conor on because they didn't like him. Personally I felt a warning was the correct outcome.

But his hatred of her was never properly explained. The only thing that we have to go on is that he just was not able to get over the fact that she nominated him on Day 1. But we don't even know if that was the reason or not because Deana asked him about it several times and he could never give her a straight answer.

But Conor didn't get a warning. That's the point. He was spoken to about it by BB about ten minutes after he said it and was told that it was not acceptable. But he didn't get given a formal warning; just a telling-off.

I don't think people think that Conor really would have done what he threatened to do with the epilator. It's that he shouldn't have said it full stop. It was highly out of order and disgusting in every sense of the word. And also, past HMs have got removed for far less than Conor, who practically got away scot-free with what he did. This is what got people's backs up about it.

I don't think there's any deep rooted reason why he didn't like Deana. Deana was a very difficult person to get on with. That much was obvious. She fell out with almost every person in the house at some point, even her closest friends.

If it's just one or two people who have a problem with you then maybe it's not your fault but when almost everyone has a problem with you then maybe it's time you took a look in the mirror. I certainly think that was the case with Deana.

He was called in and spoken to so it was pretty much a warning. Maybe not an official warning but a warning nevertheless.

Of course he wouldn't have done that. Anyone who believed it was a genuine threat obviously had an agenda. That agenda being they didn't like Conor and desperately wanted to see him hung, drawn and quartered at the very first opportunity.

I doubt anyone has been removed for far less than that. But again, you have to look at each situation on it's individual merits. Because the producers made a mistake by unfairly throwing someone out in the past doesn't mean they need to then go and do the same again. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Conor was pathetic. From Day 1, he always held the grudge that she nominated him. Strength comes with numbers and that was Conors game plan.

Alexandra from Big Brother 2008 was removed for threatening behaviour. So yes, people have been thrown out for similar type conduct, if not less.

I really don't think that was the case. Even Deana's closest friends found it very difficult to get on with her at times. She just seemed to rub people up the wrong way.

Conor was up for eviction on numerous occasions so if he had a gameplan it certainly wasn't working for him.

Alexandra imitated using a gun and insinuated she had dangerous contacts outside the house, if I remember correctly. That was much worse.

On the other hand you could say people have done much worse than Conor and stayed in the house. Remember fight night? Violence was used that night and that's why they had to go off air.

I think that BB themselves felt partly responsible for that in that they let things get really out of hand. Victor has claimed on here that producers told him that by rights they could have ejected several HMs, but were worried that they would have no show left! If other individuals involved had behaved as they did in other situations , I think that they would certainly have been ejected!

Although I found Emma irritating at times on BOTS, I think she'll fare much better in the main presenter slot. And let's face it, she can't do worse than Brian, who was truly dreadful.

I didn't like Rylan during CBB but I'll tune in to see how he is on BOTS, if he is taking over from Emma. If he's no good, then maybe that will finally give me a reason to not tune into BOTS anymore. At least Emma made it bearable (at times).

I switched off last year's BB after a week as I couldn't stand any of the HMs, so I'm hoping this year's crew are much better.
