Filming on Doctor Who’s historic 50th anniversary special has wrapped.

Producer Marcus Wilson wrote on Twitter earlier: “Thank you to an amazing dedicated & talented cast and crew. That’s a wrap on the anniversary – it will be special!”

Fillming began on 2 April 2013, a longer shoot than usual (2-3 weeks on a normal episode, this being 5 weeks) suggesting the episode is lengthier than previous reports claimed.

Now the wait to see the end result in November continues…

Do you think they could throw together a short clip to show at the end of The Name of The Doctor in the time from now until then?

Oooo that would be awesome, but I bet it will be super vague!

They don't want to give anything away!

Well the question has been whether it will be 90 minutes as opposed to 60 minutes, I don't think standard length has ever been suggested.
It has to be 90 mins in my eyes, just has to be!

60 mins for a 50th anniversary just wont cut it.

Even if it's something like they did at the end of The Angels Take Manhattan to preview The Snowmen- just a few shots of the Doctors' and the other characters' (plural) heads

The McGann petition weirdos won't be happy. They still think there's time to give him a prominent role in the special.

Especially as people will be paying to see it in the cinemas.

Very true, i'm still not sure if I will bother with the cinema myself.....

Not sure I can be bothered with the queuing and waiting in line etc.

Want to be nice and relaxed in my own home.

Wow what a thing over 5 weeks of filming! I do think that maybe it will be 90 mins plus definitely! I mean they would wanna make it actually feature length...and film length definitely...really cannot wait and as others have said i reckon by the time The Name Of The Doctor ends i will be even more heightened

Yeah, I think we're gonna see each Doctor, but as a painting. The biggest shame, of course, is that Christopher Eccleston won't be making a major appearance like Tennant. Having all three new series Doctors onscreen together would have made this truly special.

I really hope the special is 90 minutes. 60 minutes doesn't seem long enough for a golden anniversary- something very few television shows in history have ever reached.

5 weeks for 90 minutes. Most movies can take a year or more.

I'll wait until the BBC confirm whether it's 60 minutes or not but as long as it's a good story, does the length really matter?

Yes, I'd like 90 minutes too but if Moffat can tell a satisfying story in 60 that commemorates the last 50 years as best as he can, then that should be good too.

Segee, no offence, but online petitions like the one you're doing and the MoffatStepDown ones I've seen on Twitter are just an exercise in futility.

Couple of thoughts

Season 8 should be starting in the autumn, but its not, so I think a 90 minute anniversary special is the least the BBC can do.
It should celebrate 50 years of Who rather than the past eight years, so we'll have to see how respectful it is of classic Who and the other nine actors who played the Doctor
Not that I've signed any petition, but McGann was actually a very good choice to make a comeback:
1) very good actor
2 no narrative worries about his looking older
3) nicely linking old Doctor Who with new Doctor Who
4) We didn't get to see much of him in the role
5) Was referenced in the Tennant story where he lost his memory and taught in the school
6) no reason to believe he wouldn't do it.
7) also a bit of a blank sheet

Reasons against:
we will have to see when we watch the 50th . Moffat will probably do such a good job that we will forget to be disappointed

I'm one if the McGann "WEIRDOS" as you call us. I will refrain from calling you names. Just thought I'd add that on twitter DoctorWhoOnline has confirmed that the anniversary episode will be only 60 minutes.
can you post a link cause I can't find that anywhere.

I would've loved McGann in the 50th but that petition isn't going to achieve anything in all fairness.

I don't either and to be honest, petitions like that really do show fandom in a bad light as well.
