I have never managed to get an infra-red adaptor to do anything other than exchange business cards. If your phone supports bluetooth I would suggest you try that. It is so much easier to use.

I have used both of these from Maplin's (but bought at considerably lower sale prices):

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ldID=&doy=10m1

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ldID=&doy=10m1

Both worked fine for some functions in Nokia Data suites (note the plural as several different Nokia phones and data suite versions) but some functions required a hard wired connection, USB or serial as appropriate. If your phone supports hard wire I would use it as first choice and IR as second. No experience (as of yet) of Bluetooth.

Used to have a Actisys IR210L, worked fine with a 6150, 6210 and 5210 I seem to remember. But with later phones some items seem to require a hard wired connection saying the IRDA connection is to slow.

got a cheap one from ebay (Kingsun SF-620) also but had to turn down the transfer rate a notch as I had the same problem as you. After the transfer rate was turned down I can now connect via nokia datasuite.

I have a mobile action infra-red adapter, and it;s worked with all Nokia Suite's and phones from my 8210 onwards to my current Nokia 6260. Roughly 5 years worth of phones!

I think you can buy direct from Mobile Action, or I got mine from "mobilefun.co.uk".

As for connection reliabilty, I've never had a problem.

Have just looked at a mobile action infra-red adapter
MA-660 + HANDSET MANAGER.

So this will do the job on my 6610i do you think £10 is ok and is the one you have a MA-660.

thanks john
