Really good start to the show, Mads Mikkelson is fantastic! Episode as expected was quite creepy just a shame the announcer at the end ruined the moment of reflection for the episode!

Cracking start to the series. Well written, well acted, well directed. A fresh take on old themes. Let's hope they can keep it up.

I loved it. Slow building up to meeting Hannibal.

You just knew the guy and the dirty tissue was dead meat!!!!

Not sure if it was his lungs or the girl on the antlers Hannibal was cooking?

I was going to watch this but as the ratings are terrible in the US and on the probable cancellation list I'm not going to bother until its fate is known.

The US pace thread seems to have died for this.

Anyone who liked ep 1, it gets better (and darker!).

I, too, hate following shows that end up getting cancelled early on. A few weeks ago it seemed to have a very good chance at renewal, then it did abysmally against the NFL Draft and now no one knows what NBC will decide. One thing in its favour is that it's a critical darling. Hopefully this week's ep performs better in the US.

I don't think the NFL draft mattered. The problem was that new episodes of Scandal on ABC and Elementary on CBS came along and took away a good number of the viewers who were watching Hannibal while Scandal and Elementary were in repeats.

The possible cancellation doesn't bother me too much with this show though because even if it gets cancelled you could just treat it as a mini-series since we know the story will eventually dovetail into Red Dragon/Manhunter. It's been a great series so far though (also watching at US pace), and it'd still be a shame if it does get cancelled.

Doesn't bother me too.

Great 'bloody' start, I watched it at the weekend on SKY on demand.

I really enjoyed it, as it was well paced, acted and good writing. I know the books are good, too.

Am surprised at the positivity here, I thought the first one was slow and hard work. Hoping it improves.

That was tough going. Did Hannibal do the copycat killing in episode one?

Yes. It was said the woman's lungs were removed. We saw Hannibal cutting up a pair of lungs.

I really enjoyed the first episode, shame to discover on here though that it is uncertain whether it will be renewed or not.

It's frustrating when something as dire as "The Following" gets a 2nd season almost immediately and the future of this is apparently uncertain. I don't normally watch shows I know are getting binned, but I might have to make an exception with this - especially if it gets darker still.

I really liked it. Although it sometimes seemed a bit too stylish.

Just caught episode 1. Thought it was quite poor and difficult to follow.

I hope not, I really liked it and was glad it wasn't on Sky Atlantic. Why must good shows be cancelled.

I didn't even think that he killed her, doh.

I watched it and will continue for a while, but a couple of things irked me: I was irritated at Jack Crawford's hammy punching the board then bawling out Will in the restroom, to me that was sooo not his character as the BAU head of the FBI. Lecter's presumed killing of the girl for her lungs seemed rather unsophisticated, but I can live with that as he is young in this but his tip off to the killer seemed crass too

And risky. I'd have thought they were quite likely to check his phone records. They wouldn't have proof, but the sequence of events would suggest that getting a phone call immediately before going on the rampage is cause and effect, and there weren't many people with access to the phone the call was made from. It was pretty much Will, Hannibal or the woman whose office it was. Not proof, but enough to put Hannibal in the frame.

I enjoyed it. I've read "Red Dragon" so I expect that helps in following this - though in the book Graham only meets Lecter the once iirc.
