Rebecca will be the most threatening to all Apprentice contestants this year, especially the females, she has the aura of a dominant alpha female and the other girls simply don't like it.

In the house, Leah rolled her eyes and said that there was no way that Rebecca was responsible for the task failure when Luisa was spinning against her. Rebecca hopefully has learnt not to get mad but to get even and Leah has again shown some principiples.

Like you said she get even and use it to her advantage. The majority of them came across like schoolkids in the boardroom, it was embarrassing the way they tried to gang up on her, and even just by keeping a level head and sticking to her guns she'd stand out. |

I can't believe how LS is essentially advocating bullying...because 'it's business'. Awful man....this show is by far the worst series yet...I'm finding myself not wanting to waste an hour of my life each week with it.
But if Bex has serious issues with the girls, then she should sort it out with them before they all enter the Boardroom. Last edited by Dix : 08-05-2013 at 23:32. Reason: lost letter |

When the three of them came back into the boardroom for the final segment, it seemed like Rebecca's eye make-up had been cleaned off and I'm wondering if she'd been crying so much that she had to take it all off?? If this is the case, then that might explain why LS seemed to be giving her a bit of a pep talk and encouraging her to rise above it.
From what we've seen on the programmes, I don't think I'd go as far as to use the word bullying, but I certainly think that a few of them are directing some crass and mouthy comments towards her. She has an opportunity, however, to spin this back on them by not taking the bait so we shall see how she responds to it in the weeks to come. |

Why did he say "what was all that about with Rebecca?" To me it seemed like the other women were bitching and sniping at her (to be absolutely fair I only watched from about halfway through this episode though) but she seemed like she was simply defending herself, it was the other ones that were "telling tales" as in Lord Sugar's words
It turned out that Rebecca was probably the best performer on the day as she sold more than anybody else on her team. |

Rebecca's very effective at sales. But she's bad mannered with all her finger-pointing so I'm not surprised she rubs some people up the wrong way.
She and Leah are the strongest amongst the girls though. Just wish the candidates were a bit more likeable. There was a time on The Apprentice when 2 or 3 contestants within a series would be obnoxious and the rest would be a mixture of competent and incompetent (but largely inoffensive). Now they're virtually all unpleasant and it means I'm not really rooting for anyone. Plus, the girls all seem to have the same look. I miss Lucinda and her berets! |

I don't think he is, and if real trouble broke out security would deal with it. Bex might have a cold exterior, but she showed she can stand up for herself, although she shouldn't have done it in the Boardroom. Unless she meant to bring the matter to the attention of LS, and maybe only time she could do it so that he knew.
But if Bex has serious issues with the girls, then she should sort it out with them before they all enter the Boardroom. |

If they are determined to gang up on her, how do you feel she can stop them doing so? And when they do, she has to defend herself. |

I didn't really see Rebecca in the wrong (not the degree for Sugar to express there was something wrong with her). She was just airing how she felt (which previous contestants have been allowed to) and she didn't particularly raise her voice overly loudly or say it in a really aggressive manner. From You're Fired show yesterday we know Luisa doesn't like Rebecca anyway, so I think she'd probably try and find something bad to say about Rebecca at any opportunity she can (or maybe I making her out to be more childish that she is actually is). I think Luisa seems to (maybe unconciously) rally some of this strange friction with some of the girls towards Rebecca. Maybe Luisa is intimidated by Rebecca for some reason, but again, I don't particularly think Rebecca has done anything to make herself seem that scary to Luisa or anyone else, despite her being quite cool. Yes she does the finger thing, but she'd prob say it's a reaction to people trying to butt in when she's trying to close a sale or make her point. With this blame game, both parties are at fault, whether you butt in and get finger pointing as a consequence, or finger point and get talking over you as a consequence. I found it all a bit silly when some of them felt this big need to stick up for Tim as if he was some baby that couldn't voice his own opinion and had no hand in the decision. Yes, Rebecca had a part to play in the location issue, but they acted as if she was soley to blame. It just seemed odd for them to be so eager to pin her with the main blame before carefully looking and dissecting each others mistakes in the task (as not many of them shone, and could have done more). Leah seemed to be the only fairer minded person on the issue (when back at the house). I think Rebecca can certainly stand up for herself, but I don't particularly think she should unnecessarily need to.

I think that moment said a lot. Normally when somebody accepts blame for a mistake you just leave it. You wouldn't normally try to resurrect the argument just so you can take the blame off that person and carry on attacking somebody else who you don't like. |

Security would be unlikely to do anything about non-violent bullying, which is what you'd get on The Apprentice. None of would be such fools as to actually wallop another contestant.

We had the parallel in Young Apprenntice with Harry Maxwell.
The rest of the kids seemed to hate his guts for reasons they never made quite clear, and repeatedly ignored him, belittled his efforts and tried repeatedly to get him fired by taking him to the boardroom leaving the real culprits out.. LS seemed to be well aware of what was going on, and kept Harry in until the semi final stage, despite the others best efforts. It was a classic lesson to PMs in how to choose who you bring back with you. Don't bring back someone you don't like unless they really HAVE done something wrong, as all it does is raise your own chances of being on the receiving end of the firing finger. LS will not fire anyone who pulls their weight and contributes, and Rebecca was as safe as houses last night - simply because of the fact that she made the most sales of both teams, the firing - as Francesca pointed out was between her and Tim, and LS actually said as much in his summing up! |

No, I agree. It seems certain other girls have taken against her..,. she seems relatively competent, where others are slightly... shall we say... airheaded... and seem bitter about this...

I like Rebecca.
It's the old cliche of the other girls feeling 'threatened' by her because they sense she will be a good candidate. Quote:
I think some of the other girls are feeling insecure about Rebecca's abilities as she is proving to be a strong candidate so far. Uzma in particular, is feeling very threatened by her. I don't feel sorry for Rebecca though - I think she'll hold her own very well.

In the boardroom there was a moment where Tim actually took the blame and admitted that the location was his fault.
But what was telling is that the woman to the left of him actually butted in and said "But who suggested it to you?" just to carry the argument on and direct the blame away from Tim and place it solely on Rebbecca alone.I think that moment said a lot. Normally when somebody accepts blame for a mistake you just leave it. You wouldn't normally try to resurrect the argument just so you can take the blame off that person and carry on attacking somebody else who you don't like. Does making a suggestion mean you are responsible for the failure of a task? Her suggestion was a sound one, at a beer festival people drink beer. No one thought of checking out how big a festival this would be. That would have been Tim's responsibility. Uzma is fighting with a number of females. My guess is she's currently afraid to take on Luisa, but first chance she gets Luisa will be under attack from her (although in this case I can understand it, as Luisa is behaving quite insufferable). She'll probably will leave Rebecca alone for a while now that attention has been brought to the problems among the women in the boardroom. |

I agree. To put the blame on the person who's being ganged up on is out of order. She is made of stronger stuff than letting petty catfights get to her. And he's telling her she is. I didn't feel he was blaming her at all. He's just not protecting her and he shouldn't. I guess he wants to see how she's handling a situation like this. |

The way I see it Luisa called out Rebecca for epic fail in the first task, and Uzma calls her out for "picking" the location this week. Yet both times Rebecca was the highest salesperson, and there is no way SAS would get rid of her, so it was a poor decision to point the finger at her, and even more stupid to bring her back.
Two tasks in and Rebecca is the only lady that seems to be putting some effort in. Sophie is quick to demand explanations for other peoples mistakes, but doesn't seem to do anything at all. Luisa is all gob. Uzma did a good job at logistics task one, but was unhelpful and belligerent in this task (IMO she was narked for being sub-grouped for the second time and not being made sub-leader). I don't think I've seen a worse bunch of dozy plebs on the apprentice, so it's no wonder they turn on the competant ones first. (Exception being Jason, who is so bad he may become comedy gold). |

Thumbs up to Rebecca I say, it does seem that there's 4 girls who seem to have it in for her. If Uzma doesn't like a finger wiggle, perhaps she should shut up when Rebecca is about to close a pitch, unless she wants a fist in her face instead. It seems we have 4 girls who are trying to impress SAS by dressing like they've just fallen out of a night club and so far only Uzma has actually shown business sense, I think they don't like Rebecca because she appear slightly older than them and actually has a good career already.
It was noticeable that the female "whose only a Doctor" gave Rebecca a little wave when she got back to the house. The girls do seem to be made up of a lot of "wanna be's" and are treating the show like an episode of Cheordie Shore. |

I felt really sorry for Rebecca last night. You could see she was very close to tears in the boardroom and the more she tried to defend herself the more Uzma and co ganged up on her. Leah was the only one who showed a bit of decency on the female team last night.
I suspect its down to jealousy. Uzma and Luisa seem to have got on by being brash and pushy with nothing much behind it, whereas Rebecca has class, intelligence and talent. Leah had better watch out as they'll probably pick on her next for being very well educated and knowing how to behave with a bit of dignity. |

I did think Rebecca was wrong when she said that Uzma was trying to undermine her just by offering her advice, she got way too worked up about that. I think in the boardroom everyone just realised that if they ganged up on her then they would save themselves, she didn't deserve to go due to how much she sold, if she just keeps her head and doesn't let people get under her skin then I could see Rebecca going deep into the process this year.

This is my first time watching The Apprentice UK (I've seen the Irish version a few times - that's stopped now because our millionaire's gone bankrupt ![]() ). It was good. Also loved Dara's after-show. The bit with the girls turning into werewolves was priceless.
