One thing that puzzles me with the Panasonics is the inability to record straight to disc rather than to disc via the hard drive. An oddity.
You can.

Disc in, select drive you want to record to, hit record, off you go.

For me the Humax would win on the UI alone. Father in law has the Panasonic and it records and does it's thing OK, but it's a pig to look at......I know that's subjective, so it's only my view.....

IIRC, Pan have changed their UI from the really good white/blue/yellow one they had about 5/6 years ago.

Mine is one of the older models - a DMR-EX85, I can do this fine on it.

It's newer than that....At least they seem to have dropped the adverts from the EPG though!
