You know, when they're basically talking a load of old shite about how they're going to win and what they think of themselves... blah blah blah..

I refuse to believe some dozy candidates (yes, there have been many), can come up with some rare and rather witty statements we hear.

I don't think they are told what to say, but are probably given off camera pointers, like being asked "what animal would you compare yourself to?".

Then they edit everything that sounds like a reasonable human being and leave us with the gold of delusional statements they made.

They'll just ask them lots of questions until they get the sort of responses they want.

No, they write it themselves, a lot of these are answers to the questions on the application form - which they'd then repeat as a camera test, if they get picked out in an interview scenario. So it's not impromptu, they've not gone there and spaffed, but it's things they've written about themselves.

I applied for it once (Why not, right?! It's a laugh!) and I swear, the nonsense I wrote!! You don't necessarily believe it, there's an extent to which it's just part of the interview process, like how you might go "I work brilliantly in a team and on my own" when applying for a regular job - but also like a regular application, you absolutely do mean it, on some level, inasmuch as you genuinely believe you can live up to the stuff you're saying, and try to make it match you. Or I did, anyway.

I was going on about bees and sci-fi robots. Frankly, if I was anything to go by, they wouldn't need to write the candidates' quotes for them.
