Says a limited series, not sure if that means just one series with no option of a second, or if it means they're looking at 12 episodes or something rather than the normal 24.

Either way it's interesting news.

"event series" is a fancy buzzword Fox invented for miniseries. I think they're working on one with M. Night Shamalan (or however you spell his name).

I imagine it's a series that will wrap up nicely, with options for a second if they want one.

I freakin' love 24 and I think it's one of the best shows ever made so this sounds exciting but I'm not sure how they could not do a full 24 episodes as the format is one episode means one hour in a day adding up to all 24. Unless they do a full day but skip certain hours therefor still showing a full day?

An "event" series sounds intruiging, but then it could easily fall flat on it's face if they try to retain the real time format. You'd assume that each "event" would be a crisis that each Jack Bauer would have to investigate and avert, but I can't help but to think it would start to be a bit contrived.

It was a cool gimmick at the time, but I don't really think it's necessary these days. The story is what counts, to me at least.

I always felt that 24 would return.

It was too big & too good for the network to consign to history.

Money talks & 24 is money.

I think it should return under a new name, in a completely new stage of Jack's life. Treading old ground with a focus on an American intelligence agency and the White House just will not work.

I really liked that mini-movie set in West Africa they did at the start of Season 7. Perhaps it could follow a similar pattern, completely divorced from America.

Drop him in a South American jungle and have him fight drug lords there. Have him become a counterterrorist agent in the Middle East in something Zero Dark Thirty/Argo/Syriana style. Create a military sequel with Jack set somewhere in the Balkans during a war.

I would like to see on season set in Europe. It would be interesting to see Chole at MI5 or something.

I hope we get to see or at least hear about what happened to President Taylor. Her ending never sat right with me. She was too good to have her legacy ruined by a mistake co-ordinated by Logan. I'd like to know she survived it and managed to continue as president.

It was said once that the 24 movie was to be set in London.

I agree. It didn't really matter to me after the first couple of seasons.

It didn't seem to matter to them either! They began to cheat the format more and more brazenly as the series went on.

There is a reason for it being called 24 so for me, whether is is a movie or a series of half the usual episodes it just won't be the same and not worth doing. This reeks to me of Fox desperate for another channel not to poach KS for another series with TOuch ending now. For me towards the end of 24 some of the twists didn't even made sense and were just doing them just to throw the viewer and pointless. All IMHO I stress to add.

This is great news

I'd prefer the usual 24 part series, but it's a step in the direction. If all goes well with ratings we might well get one.

I'll watch it because i love 24, but I fully expect it to not do too well when it returns, the ratings for Season 8 were on the slide so i imagine it'll likely fall further with a three year gap between Season 8 and Season 9, especially with the current network TV climate.

It'll be good to have Jack back though, even if it is only a mini-series. I'd rather them take the occasional mini-series route than a movie because i could never understand the logic behind making a show that is set in "real time" into a two hour movie, it'd just end up being a generic action thriller without it's key "real time" concept (imo), at least a mini-series will be able to retain this aspect somewhat.

Set on Jupiter with a 10 hour day. Factor in two hours to get there by out of control Virgin Galactic ship. Easy.
