Anyone else play any text based MMO's? Or am I in the minority?

I used to play the hell out of Urban Dead many years ago...

Is Cities still going? A friend of a friend wrote that because everyone he knew was into Kingdom Of Loathing and Urban Dead, and he thought they were both quite limited. It was pretty cool, but the lack of zombies meant my loyalties stayed with UD.

I used to play Terris many, many years ago. It was really enjoyable and sparked my imagination as well as really helping with my typing skills. I was in the barbarian guild and could forge my own bone mithiril armour, I then discovered Everquest and Runescape.

I wonder if anyone actually still plays Terris?

Does Planetarion count? Used to play that at school back in the day.

Looks like it is still going too, but just one player online

Also if you're looking for a text RPG look no further! http://candies.aniwey.net/

I play this one.
I've played a few and find them to be enjoyable and a good way to pass time.

Do you mean MUDs?

I used to play Vampire Wars years ago when there was just one server, but then it fragmented into different versions and faded away.

many years ago i played medieva: http://www.medievia.com/

It was quite popular back around 1998 - 2001 also alot of contreversy around the game as people were acusing them of stealing code etc and profiting from it. ( they are still around tho!)

The main attraction at the time was this part of it:

Chaotic Player Killing

In Chaotic Player Killing(CPK) areas, you can kill other players and loot their corpses. This means you can steal their equipment. Needless to say, auctioning off stolen equipment is one of the highest-yielding activities in all of Medievia. Of course, you have to be equally careful not to get killed yourself.
Was certainly alot of fun

Played Asylum MUD a fair bit in the past, damn near finished every quest/skill/spell found etc. Popped in a few times now and then but not remembering everything is a pain.

Was always lots of fun, very easy to pick up MUD.

I play on 3 Kingdoms. Have done for years.
www.3k.org

Has an awesome guild system where each guild plays completely different from each other.
