Thornit!

Hey everyone

This is my first DS post but am a long time lurker. So please be gentle with me.

My query, Do any of you use or have used Thornit product on your dog/cat? For those that might not know about this product it is a powder which is supposed to help treat ear problems be it earmites/allergy etc.

http://www.thornitearpowder.com/

I ask as my partner was reccomended to try this by someone at work for our 6 month old Jack Russell who has been having bother with itchy/sore ears, Vet believes it is an allergy of some kind.Drops she prescribe helped but yesterday I noticed pup has a slight rash on his ear again tho doesn't appear to be causing him any bother at mo. I have done some research on the internet & there are alot of positive reviews but I must admit to being reluctant to use anything that is not prescribed by our vet

Anyone have any experience with this product?

With ear problems I like to let the vet prescribe, often they need cleaning and treating not just the treatment. Have used thornit but many years ago and while it worked for one of mine it didn't for the other and the delay in treating it correctly made the problem worse, which is why I now go straight to the vet and get a proper examination and prescription.

I'd check it with the vet first - if they don't know whats causing it, its best to diagnose first, then use treatments, if this covers up a more serious problem then you could be making matters worse.

Hi, Thornit is a good product but there are others and I must admit a bias here for EarSolv which has great reviews and offers a 100% no quibble guarantee. 15% of all dogs that visit vets have some sort of ear problem. Either ear mites, yeast/fungal infection or excessive ear wax. EarSolv addresses all of these - check out their website for the symptoms and save yourself consultation fees. Since the product is completely natural it will not harm your dog in any way- just my bias view.

I use Thornit on my Springer Spaniel and it's brilliant.

Because of his big ears he used to have problems with mites and wax build up that smelled really bad at times. I tried the vets who gave me eardrops but they just seemed to make things worse. Then someone recommended thornit and I've never looked back.

Just a small amount in each ear every couple of weeks and he never has any problems with his ears anymore. There always clean and smell fresh. It's quite expensive but lasts for ages.

I have read a lot of people using it for their dogs on the raw feeding site I am on, and they say it does the trick. Nice and natural.

Indeed, Thornit is a great product, been around for decades.

Worth a try before going to vets
However, if it's an allergy, it will only soothe the symptoms, you really need to get to the bottom of what is causing the discomfort, which you will need a vet for.

What diet is he/she on??

Depends on the Vet, the ones who look for making profit, dont like it. some others who are open to natural remedies do.
