New Samsung LED TV going dim.................
Got a Samsung 32ing UE32F500 today and got a shock as the picture went dim for no reason. I understand this is known as "Auto Dimming"
Is there a way to disable this feature without making the warranty void ?? When it goes dim, what shall I do to make it go back as bright as before ?? |

I have a different set but there is a feature in 'System' > 'Eco Solution' > Eco Sensor' which I have set to Off.. even with it Off there may be slightly noticeable auto dimming if you have brightness setting below 50..
Just remembered if you want to keep the Eco Sensor on, the setting is probably set way to low.. Try increasing it to 10 or more |

It's an absolutely stupid feature - it's been added to sets occasionally way back since the 50's, and every single time has been a dismal failure.
Unfortunately most modern sets come with it, and it's set ON by default, so it's something you need to turn OFF during initial installation, as it 'auto-standby', although not all sets allow you to disable that. |

It's how these sets achieve their energy ratings: Break the picture to make it sip power and also achieve the lowest black level. Then break the picture again and ramp up the contrast and turn off the power saving to get peak white for a high contrast ratio. It's all a con.

If it is the Auto Dimming, then switch it to the Movie picture mode, should disable it, as it does on my Samsung LED Tv.
