PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one.

I burst out laughing at every one of her scenes this evening... what a brilliant character - maybe one of the finest introduced in recent years.

Fantastic character but every time I see her I think of Keith Appleyard dressed as a woman.

OP the character isn't from EastEnders so you might have to help people out.

Wow... can't believe I left that out of the post title.

Then again... Google does exist for a reason...

LOL. She's a babe in that hefty dressing gown.

I think she's turning into a really great character, and now I can say it was a brilliant decision to bring Roy's mother into the show (I did fear it would all go wrong somehow). I love that they've thought about who Sylvia is as a person, because the way she acts, behaves and thinks do explain and tie in nicely with a lot of what makes Roy 'Roy'.

In particular, I love how Sylvia knew how Roy would react when told about the letter. But at the same time, I love that Hayley knew deep down that Roy just needs to get his head around the idea first: in a matter of two/three scenes, the writers have beautifully demonstrated a close bond between Mother and Son, Man and Wife, and shown how each woman influences him on two different levels.

She has a wit to match Blanche, but thankfully isn't as bitter or as disillusioned with life. I loved her comment to Rita tonight about Rita having to find somewhere new to spend the afternoon as The Rovers future seems uncertain.

And I just loved the fact she bought the bloody mop in the end!

Brilliant one liner from Syvlia yesterday in The Bistro when Beth said that Kirk was going to give Craig a hand with his homework.

Sylvia said 'did I hear you say Kirk was giving Craig a hand with his homework'

'Whats wrong with that' replied Beth

'How long have you got?' snarled Sylvia

I think she's brilliant too. I forgot her when someone asked who were the worst characters in CS and I said it's be easier to say who I liked , Sylvia and Steve would be there at the top of my faves,

She is the true successor of Queen Blanche. Corrie really HAVE to keep hold of Stephanie Cole for as long as possible. She delivers her lines like a comedy pro - her deadpan manner and timing is perfect.

After being pulled up on drinking alone by Gail, Beth walks in the bistro

Sylvia - "Oh, here comes my companion now"
Gail - "Eh?"
Sylvia - "It's called wit!"

"...never mind about cleaning window we're lucky he hasn't jumped out of one!!"

Lol, you're right, there can only ever be one Blanche, but Sylvia's the closest we're ever going to get and she is bloody brilliant. I hope she sticks around for a long time.

In a year or two when Craig is older, he and Kirk has the potential to be a brilliant double act. With some good writing, their scenes will be comedy gold - especially if we`re lucky enough for Sylvia to still be around to stick her oar in.
