So the crack took the ducks too? What did the ducks ever do to it?

And I'm still waiting for some Series 5 storylines to be cleared up, like what the cracks were and what they wanted, who blew up the TARDIS...

Also, why were the cracks eating away at Amy's life? Was it a trap for the Doctor or something?

Well to be fair it was a bit small. I think the doctor was just looking for things that were out of place.

How did they blow up the TARDIS and who rasped "Silence will fall" when River was in the TARDIS. There are a number of threads left hanging from series 5 which we were led to believe would be followed up in series 6. As it was, the 'Silence' went off on another tangent and it all seemed to get forgotten about. It's a bit like 'Trenzalore'. It was mentioned in the final moments of the final episode of series 6 and yet it hasn't been heard of again. Are we supposed to believe the casual audience will have remembered it over a year later?

And yet

Spoiler

No. The duck pond without ducks was an analogy to show that the effects of something no longer being there were still remembered. The ducks were not erased...

According to Moffat himself, the Silence blew up the TARDIS, although it hasn't been explicitly stated as yet in the show.

The crack was eating away at her life, because it was in her room. The cracks were everywhere. She was never a trap, but her life was used as a trap later, which was the cause of the cracks in the first place.

Also not explained was why in the old Silurian episode. Rory and Amy were waving to themselves from across the valley.

That was just a visual reminder that things can change - the future isn't written. They were both there at the beginning, then when Rory was absorbed by the crack, he disappeared. Just a tiny thing to show what happens.

No need for an 'explanation'.

I'm not sure how to answer a question about what a rip in space and time 'wants'...

Yes, the duckpond was an analogy. It's a duckpond and everyone knows that it's a duckpond, despite never having any ducks. Just like Amy Pond exists despite Mr and Mrs Pond being erased.

The Silence blew up the TARDIS. It was one of their attempts to kill the Doctor before he reached Trenzalore. It somewhat backfired on them. The means by which they achieved this is not known, it is however notable that their programmed assassin was the only person aboard the TARDIS at the time.

The cracks were rips in time and space caused by the particular way the TARDIS exploded.

And there were quacks all across space and time, ergo the Tardis or the Universe is really a duck.

More of a Chicken really.

Mind you, as the universe is actually less than 28 Billion years old, technically...

it's a Poussin.

A duck floats.

What else floats?

Wood.

The TARDIS has a wooden exterior

Ergo, the TARDIS is a witch.

That's just a silly statement^

Ducks swim on water.

The TARDIS has a swimming pool.

The Rani.

Rani is an anagram of Rain.

So the reason that there were no ducks in the duck pond is because The Rani IS the duck pond.

Could be a bit like what the cyber planner said- That things can be reconstructed from the holes they left?

Ducks don't leave holes, water just kind of fills the gap.

Which would be hardly inconsistent, with the fundamental concept of the memory-proof creatures, would it?

A quacking duck gets noticed sooner than a silent duck with it's beak in the water.
