Along the same lines of "maybe Clara is an echo" - I'm starting to wonder whether Clara might be
the FOOL of the eleventh. You know, as in a Shakespearean kind of fool - the smart doppelganger who points out/questions everything in plain sight. I'd thought this before (that “the fall” of the Eleventh might actually be “the fool”), but that final episode prologue has made me even more suspicious, because of how it seems to present the two characters as halves of a connected mystery.
Certainly, throughout the whole series Clara has given off the impression of being incredibly detached and robotic, like her travels with the Doctor are all part of her training (she's seemed less scared by dead bodies than *curious* about their "reality"). It almost seems like this is a Master and apprentice-style relationship that she has been groomed for *virtually* - maybe there's a school of Claras, and updated models (with tampered memories) get shipped out every time one isn't good enough/dies

?!
Anyway, I'm not too well versed in Who lore, but maybe the universe/Great Intelligence is trying to build its own Doctor, because the real one seems to be playing the role of rogue agent with increasingly gleeful abandon/developing too many uncomfortably close relationships? There’s always been something very meta about Moffat’s writing, and I could imagine him weaving people’s annoyance with the sexualisation/lovey-doviness of the revived show into his scripts – a sort of “ah, but it was all part of the plan. The Doctor’s been around humans so long he’s becoming vulnerable to their weaknesses, getting attached, and his enemies are starting to notice and exploit it!”. Let’s not forget, Moffat’s on record as saying about Sherlock that he finds asexuals boring, and that it’s people who abstain from relationships who are interesting (his controversial opinion, not mine haha!). I sort of sense a bit of that in where he’s taking The Doctor – maybe that the time lords trained themselves to cast off attachments based on sentiment, but the Doctor has become *infected* by his close proximity to humanity. Clara, then, could be an intended replacement – a savior with the perfectly non-committal heart of a … Dalek?!
What do you think - have I gone too far

?!!
