Janelle Monae is really bringing it lately, Electric Lady is probably the best album this year because its such a distinct, complete package. The songs are different yet mainstream enough to be appealing to radio, the styling is incredible distinct but doesn't look overly outlandish, everythings just so right.

Louis was their mentor and that was the last time he was close to winning, so of course he still feels bitter about it. lol I don't think that is 'shading' Alexandra, if he said she wasn't talented and didn't deserve her initial success then fair enough, but he has never said anything like that. Only last week he said about someone they had the potential to be bigger than Leona and Alex, so he obviously still likes and consider's Alex great female contestant.

Sorry, but Louis has been shading Alex ever since he won. I don't know how you can sit there and say that when in the past he has made comments like "JLS are the real winners" and "Alex didn't deserve to win".

Its pretty obvious that Louis is bitter that he let Alex go and then she went onto beat his act in the final just 3 years later. He's been dissing Alex for years

I sit here and say it because that's what I feel, they were his act at the end of the day, its not all that surprising he prefers them and thinks they should have won. He has complimented her talent on many occasions and as I said even last week he compared a contestant to Alex and Leona, so obviously feels they are the benchmark to female contestants. Some of you lot are way to sensitive, its not like Louis' opinion matters anyway.

I literally can't fault her new album. NOTHING about it is wrong, or off. Even the interludes are incredible, just for comedic value and as part of the story she tells.
Didn't even think she'd come close to topping the ArchAndroid which is one of my favourite ever albums and it makes that seem like a demo disc tbh lol. All I've been playing this week is Janelle Monae, Laura Mvula & VV Brown haha <3
Speaking of Laura Mvula, she has some interesting sounds which I think could suit some of Alex's vocals (the more acoustic tracks). Laura enunciates in a different manner, but I think Alex has that richness to her voice which would compliment some of Laura's tracks. Doubt she'd do anything along that line though...

Completely agree, Alex could do any style of music so its a shame she seems to pigeon hole herself so much. A real singer can sing anything. It'd do Alex a lot of good to take influence from those sorts of musicians.
