Why are Bagels so hot?

You toast bread and you just take it out with your fingers - toast a bagel and you need oven gloves!

Its pitta breads that are hotter than the sun when they come out of the toaster!

Yes they are hotter but I find they usually cool down quicker.

Seems likely - ordinary bread has a lot of air in. This will insulate the bread from the heat but also help keep it warm once out of the toaster.
