I just came actoss this image:

http://i.imgur.com/5i9jWFA.jpg

Upon seeing that, you'll notice something right away:

Spoiler

Thing is, where is he? That looks like Matt Smith's TARDIS, and I can't think of any reason for him to be there - except one.

Steven Moffat is retconning the Roundels.

Those circular white or grey semitransparent discs that once decorated the brilliant white walls of the first seven Doctors seem to have been completely replaced, and instead the image appears to suggest Matt Smith's current TARDIS interior has always been the default one the Doctor always used in the classic series.

While it's absolutely brilliant and amazing to finally see proof of one returnee, and many will be incredibly happy about this, the TARDIS situation might just be enough to anger those very same people.

What do you think? Do you think the Roundels are being retconned, or is the returnee somehow in the wrong TARDIS? And what do you think about the returnee?

That's the important thing you got from that photo? Not that it's proof that the Finale really is out there already?

That photo came from the BBC owned website:

http://www.doctorwho.tv/whats-new/ar...-so-many-times

An image from that site hardly constitutes proof of a leak

Steven Moffat is retconning the Roundels.
give me a break

It was either use 11s tardis for the scene or not have the scene, BBC was not going to pay to recreate the Roundels for a 5 second scene

get a grip, SM is not the root of all evil

And JJ Abrams has edited Benedict Cumberbatch into Star Trek (TOS)

What in the name of Rassilon poses for logic around these parts?

Why would he need to?

They would have been already present in the footage they snipped that Doctor out of. Instead of placing Clara into old footage, they stuck that him into new footage - which makes no sense since his TARDIS never looked like that.

It's probably just a "time echo" of 6 wandering the present TARDIS.

I think what pobatti is getting at is that in the Davidson/baker era the corridors of the tardis had roundrels too, however the tardis interior seems to be different each time it is seen, jttcott is completely different to the one seen in tdw

I think it's why they wrote in the arch recon.

I don't recall roundels adorning the entire Tardis interior in the Invasion of Time!

While I find all these references to Classic Who very exciting and cant wait to see them on screen, I can't help but wonder if they would have been best placed in the 50th!

I suspect (and I don't know, because I've avoided spoilers) that Clara is presented as being additional companions to various incarnations of the Doctor as opposed to her actually being Peri or Sarah Jane or Tegan. That's why her outfits don't seem to reflect any worn by actual companions.

I don't think even Moffat would be so arrogant as to say that past companions were nothing more than reflections of his companion.

In a 'time can be rewritten' way?

More in a 'Big Finish expanding the classic stories' kind of way.
